Apostasy, Deadly Look at the excellent summary for the Sermon.¶
If you ever wanted an excellent overview of the apostate prophet Balaam this is the sermon to listen to! I think it is a an important look into an apostate's true beliefs and this sermon does it!¶

Scofield Reference Notes, 1917¶
2 Timothy 3:1¶
Apostasy, "falling away," is the act of professed Christians who deliberately reject revealed truth
(1) as to the deity of Jesus Christ, and¶
(2) redemption through His atoning and redeeming sacrifice 1 John 4:1-3; Philippians 3:18; 2 Peter 2:1. Apostasy differs from error concerning truth, which may be the result of ignorance Acts 19:1-6 or heresy, which may be due to the sphere of Satan 2 Timothy 2:25,26 both of which may consist with true faith. The apostate is perfectly described in 2 Timothy 4:3,4. Apostates depart from the faith, but not from the outward profession of Christianity 2 Timothy 3:5. Apostate teachers are described in ; 2 Timothy 4:3; 2 Peter 2:1-19; Jude 4 Jude 8 Jude 11-13 Jude 16.
Apostasy in the church, as in Israel Isaiah 1:5,6; 5:5-7 is irremediable, and awaits judgment ; 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12; 2Pe 2:17 2Pe 2:21; Jude 1:11-15; Revelation 3:14-16.
Romish Corruption of the Bible Pt. 2 Jamison, Fausset, and Brown Bible Commentary¶
Timothy 4:3¶
3. Sensuality leads to false spiritualism. Their own inward impurity is reflected in their eyes in the world without them, and hence their asceticism (Tit 1:14, 15) [Wiesinger]. By a spurious spiritualism (2Ti 2:18), which made moral perfection consist in abstinence from outward things, they pretended to attain to a higher perfection. Mt 19:10-12 (compare 1Co 7:8, 26, 38) gave a seeming handle to their "forbidding marriage" (contrast 1Ti 5:14); and the Old Testament distinction as to clean and unclean, gave a pretext for teaching to "abstain from meats" (compare Col 2:16, 17, 20-23). As these Judaizing Gnostics combined the harlot or apostate Old Testament Church with the beast (Re 17:3), or Gnostic spiritualizing anti-Christianity, so Rome's Judaizing elements (1Ti 4:3) shall ultimately be combined with the open worldly-wise anti-Christianity of the false prophet or beast (1Ti 6:20, 21; Col 2:8; 1Jo 4:1-3; Re 13:12-15). Austerity gained for them a show of sanctity while preaching false doctrine (Col 2:23). Paul prophetically warns against such notions, the seeds of which already were being sown (1Ti 6:20; 2Ti 2:17, 18).
Romish Corruption of the Bible Pt. 1 The second sermon carries on from the first by looking at the Immaculate Deception of the Romish Mary¶
Romans 5:12¶
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--¶
Romans 3:27-28¶
27. Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.¶
28. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.---NASB ¶

Nearly All Catholic Dogma is an Anathema! An excellent sermon, which many should hear to realize much of Catholic dogma has no efficacy.¶
If he hasn't done it already, let's hope Dr. Rugh will turn this sermon into a booklet. It is that informative.¶
By Grace alone (Sola Gratia)¶
Through Faith alone (Sola Fide)¶
In Christ alone (Solus Christus)¶
According to Scripture alone (Sola Scriptura)¶
For God’s Glory alone (Soli Deo Gloria)¶
Now Protestants agree with the above, but the Romish Church doesn't!
Mercies for the Soul by ----fine sermon I have been reading through the Bible starting this year, and I've been using a study Bible that often refers to Hosea 2:19 for it's note on lovingkindness, (loving-kindness, loving kindness)
( [chêsêd] \kheh'-sed\ Strong's # 2617) thankfully the writer of the summary for the sermon also included "lovingkindness" as a keyword, making it easy to locate this sermon!¶
Not only is an this excellent sermon in giving the definition of "lovingkindness" for Strong's # 2617, but I got to hear a synopsis of The book of Job and other gems of information. So, go listen to the sermon just for the comments on Job--if for no other reason.¶
Lovingkindness is a very good word, and Bibles that follow and the ASV tradition will use it as often as they can. Actually, the KJV and NKJV use it quite often also--but not in this Psalm! They use the word, "mercies." Versions like the NIV and ESV, I believe only use "loving kindness" only once in their entire versions¶
It pays to have several versions of the Bible!
Excellent sermon -- more than meets the eye! Gil, only mentioned one specific verse from Jeremiah, Jer 17:9, but did mention the Book a couple of times. I found it fascinating because I just read through the Book of Jeremiah, and I was always struck by the fact that one could almost always easily substitute USA for Jerusalem (!)¶
While the main point of Gil's sermon wasn't the collapse of countries before the return of Christ physically to Earth, there certainly were examples of it!¶
JFB Bible Commentary [for the KJV]
Jer. 5:28.¶
....They live a life of self-indulgence.
overpass . . . the wicked—exceed even the Gentiles in wickedness (Jer 2:33 Eze 5:6-7).
judge not . . . fatherless— (Isa 1:23).
yet . . . prosper— (Jer 12:1).¶
Jeremiah 5:28-31
28. ‘They are fat, they are sleek, They also excel in deeds of wickedness; They do not plead the cause, The cause of the orphan, that they may prosper; And they do not defend the rights of the poor.
29. ‘Shall I not punish these people?’ declares the Lord, ‘On a nation such as this Shall I not avenge Myself?’
30. “An appalling and horrible thing Has happened in the land:
31. The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule on their own authority; And My people love it so! But what will you do at the end of it? ---NASB
The first time that the word 'Despensation' was used in Ephesians Dr. Rugh astutely noticed that the word "dispensation" can also be used in this verse!
¶As Scofield viewed it.
¶Scofield reference notes, 1917 edition
¶Ephesians 1:10
¶dispensation of the fullness of times
The Dispensation of the Fulness of Times. This, the seventh and last of the ordered ages which condition human life on the earth, is identical with the kingdom covenanted to David. 2 Samuel 7:8-17; Zechariah 12:8

Luke 1:31-33; 1 Corinthians 15:24, and gathers into itself under Christ all past "times":

It's Israel not Palestine ! William, your excellent comments on using a literal interpretation of the Bible are right on! The whole sermon is well worth listening to.¶
I have been looking at various study bibles, and one short part of Dr. Rugh's overall excellent sermon is particularly applicable to them. The term "Palestine" used in place of "Israel" is anti-Israel. Besides Dr. Rugh, pointing this out other people such as Dr. Thomas S. McCall have done an excellent job of pointing this out too.¶
It's time that various study bibles have the word, "Palestine" replaced by "Israel" on their maps and also where they have it in their notes!
Take it literally! Peter:¶
I just happened to see your comment as it was rotated by SermonAudio. Hopefully, you have gotten some of your ideas answered if you have contacted IHCC directly there will be people there who can answer your statements much better than I can, but after all these years I can partly point out some sources if your statements have stimulated questions in other people's minds!

Great Sermon! [For Eph. 2:8 Scofield says to look at the following note:]
¶Scofield Reference Notes, 1917 Edition
¶ Romans 1:16
¶salvation
The Heb. and (Greek - , safety, preservation, healing, and soundness). Salvation is the great inclusive word of the Gospel, gathering into itself all the redemptive acts and processes: as justification, redemption, grace, propitiation, imputation, forgiveness, sanctification, and glorification. Salvation is in three tenses:
(1) The believer has been saved from the guilt and penalty of sin Luke 7:50; 1 Corinthians 1:18; 2 Corinthians 2:15; Eph 2:5 Eph 2:8✓; 2 Timothy 1:9 and is safe.
(2) the believer is being saved from the habit and dominion of sin Romans 6:14; Philippians 1:19; 2:12,13; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; Romans 8:2; Galatians 2:19,20; 2 Corinthians 3:18.
(3) The believer is to be saved in the sense of entire conformity to Christ. Romans 13:11; Hebrews 10:36; 1 Peter 1:5; 1 John 3:2. Salvation is by grace through faith, is a free gift, and wholly without works ; Romans 3:27,28; 4:1-8 ; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8.✓ The divine order is: first salvation, then works ; Ephesians 2:9,10; Titus 3:5-8.
¶
¶✓ Ephesians 2:8 has been usually picked out as emphasizing salvation.

We have the aid of the Holy Spirit in our walk in progressive sanctification!
Lying lips a long-term evil What an excellent summary to this sermon! Please read it, I would add, from the very last book in the Bible,
¶Revelation of John 21:8
But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
¶and
¶Psalms 120:2-3
2. Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, From a deceitful tongue.
3. What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, You deceitful tongue?
¶Proverbs 12:22
22. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal faithfully are His delight.
¶All verses from the NASB.
¶Gil Rugh, has been preaching about some "popular" in-the-news, sins lately, but I am certainly pleased that he also covered some sins that have been, and are being ignored!
Excellent Sermon! This was an excellent sermon by Gil Rugh. He spent over half an hour looking into the possible complications that one verse in the Bible may cause, for example, about the official role of Phoebe in Romans 16:1. ¶ Romans 16:1 I commend to you Phoebe, our sister, who is a servant [!] of the assembly that is at Cenchreae, ---WEB ¶ It it can be seen by the marginal notes for various versions of the Bible that are based on the ASV, such as the NASB, that want to interpret "servant" as "Deaconess." [!] Dr. Rugh did an excellent job of pointing out Phoebe, who no doubt did many excellent works for her fellow Christians, still did not have an official role as a deacon. People who want to give her that role are ignoring the complementarianism nature that God has assigned to men and women. ¶It is interesting to see which Bible versions who had translators that wanted to do this, and those Bible versions that didn't do this. This is a highly informative sermon!
Great Sermon! As a Jewish believe I agree 100% with Pastor Gil in that from Genesis 12 to Acts 1 God is focused on Israel, then from Acts 2 until nearly the end of the book of Revelations God is focused on the Church. No way does the Church replace Israel.
However there were many Gentiles that converted to Judaism when God was focused on Israel and a fair number of Jews, like myself, have come to Christ in the past 2000 years when God while God has been focused on the Church. All comes together at the end. Evidence of this can be found in Revelation 21 vs 12-14. Blessings, Keith
Great Sermon! I thoroughly agree with you Dr. Rugh, Babylon is Babylon. Peter had no reason to fall into deception in order to throw the Roman government off, Peter understood the price he had to pay in order to follow the Lord.
Besides all that, on the day of Pentecost, there were Jews who were dwellers of Mesopotamia, (I believe is, Babylon)
who were born who heard the believers speaking in their own tongues. Acts 2:9.
What a vast difference from the Tower of Babel incident!
Great Sermon! Thank you so much Minister Rugh, your explanation concerning Revelation 17 is unmatchable. I’ve listened and studied with many, but somehow when you’d explain about verses 8-12 of chapter 17, the Holy Spirit opened up my understanding. God bless you brother and may he continue to crown your head with much wisdom in His Word.
Great Sermon! Minister Rugh I thank God for your wonderful word of wisdom and knowledge in His Word.
I wish I’d found your ministry long ago, especially since we are living in apostate times where the Word Of God is scarce.
Re interpretation?? Good message but a little misleading brother Amillenianism does not teach that the NT re interprets the OT they believe that the NT interprets the OT in the light of Christ s coming they are able to interpret the OT in the light of the revelation that Christ brought, they dont teach that the church and Israel are one and the same but that all believers are one people of God, and as for the deception of the pre trib rapture, anyone who knows the bile cannot interpret all of it either one way or another, the bible is different types of literature and each type has to be interpreted in a different way, you are not presenting the 3 different interpretations in a fair way, you inject your opinion immediately “i disagree strongly with this view”you add, why not present the 3views and encourage listeners to go study for themselves? Incidentally the word “thousand” is not only found in Revelation 20, it is used several times throughout the bible and ALWAYS is used in a non literal way,
Problems. How can people with glorified bodies begat children who are sinful and with physical bodies? This cannot be found in the Bible. When we will have glorified bodies we will no marry anymore, says the Bible. There is no teaching in the Bible to say that people with glorified bodies will live along with people with people with unglorified bodies. This is to read into the Scriptures what it does not say. This is human invention put in an invented scheme and Scriptures are forced to be read through this invented scheme.
Great Sermon! Pastor Rugh,
A special thank you to you and to your church for providing your messages. This is a wonderful message for everyone to hear. It is special guidance for those of us who are born again believers.
