Great Sermon! The focus on Christ and solid Biblical preaching is outstanding in this lesson. I really like the way Pastor Marquedant uses two sermons as examples of Christ centered preaching, one from Moses, from the O.T., and one from Peter, from the N.T. Just look at the sermon notes above and you'll see many good things to be considered. I also think what he says about the gospel being for the comfort of God's people and not for unbelievers is right on target! The application is excellent.
Great Sermon! What could be better than a sermon about God's goodness and truth? I never before thought how God's goodness and truth are related. I love this lesson and would like to hear it again soon.
Great Sermon! I never take the time and/or have the time to really meditate on all of Scripture. Some verses I do and others I pass by without much thought. I'm grateful for the meditation and study that Pastor Steve gave to the story of Thomas. He says, "Love in the face of radical unbelief", that is so true. I learned a lot through this teaching on Thomas. Difficult verse like John 20:23,28 are explained in a way I can understand. There is excellent applications at the end. If you can't listen to the whole sermon at least listen to the end.
Great Sermon! Christ's death on the cross is indeed a mystery, a paradox, it's incomprehensible. Pastor Steve gave a good lesson here on a difficult event. Difficult because of the sheer magnitude of what's taking place! His use of 2 Cor. 5:21, to describe what was taking place in the darkness is perfect. Also, the comment he made on Christ's choice of words when He cried out to God are very insightsful. The comment that only Christ has suffered death while still alive is ture too. Finally, what was said, that no living man has ever felt the punishment for his sins, is certainly true. We have only known the goodness of God, even when lost, through God's common grace. It will only be in hell that men will finally be fully separated from God. It will be then that they will realize how good God was to them all their lives. Surely the weeping and gnashing of teeth is for the loss of that common grace.
Great Sermon! This lesson blessed me so much. When asked if I knew the difference between grace and mercy, I didn't have an answer. But, I do now! This really is a great sermon. I'm forever thankful for God's mercy. It's good to know the difference between God's attribute of love, grace, mercy, and pity.
Great Sermon! I never paid much attention to what the repentant thief said before I heard this sermon. I was always more focused on what our Lord said. Pastor Marquedant makes an excellent contrast between the two thieves. I think I will always favor this sermon and hope to listen to it often. The last words of our dear brother, dying there next to our Lord, was a very touching confession of faith preserved forever in the Word of God. Amazing, God chose to save one. I wonder if it was an encouragement to our Lord to have one of His own there beside Him?
Great Sermon! I like the speakers premise, "A distorted view of hell will help support a distorted view of Christ." This sermon is excellent, especially if you try to speak the truth in love to Jehovah's Witnesses.
Great Sermon! There is a lot of good stuff in this sermon: Simon, the prophecy of Jesus to the women, a proverb (which I now understand), the title placed above Jesus. It's amazing how much Pilate wanted to free Jesus, I never, before now, realized just how hard he was trying. I'm grateful that this pastor didn't go into what Crucifixion entails.
Great Sermon! There are really too many good things to say about this lesson here. I'm amazed at the many different ways in which God extends His grace to His people: freely, bountifully, continuously, sufficently, infinitely and on it goes. We live, breathe and have our being in His grace through our Lord and King Jesus. Amazing Grace!
Great Sermon! I wouldn't think a sermon on Pilate would be much. But, these sermons, part one and part two, are jam packed with information about Pilate and Herod that is quite fascinating.
Great Sermon! I like the title of this sermon, it says so much. This is a very insightful sermon, I learned a great deal through it about Pilate, Herod and my Lord Jesus. Some really good things were said about politics, proclaiming the truth and Christ Kingdom. There is a very sober ending. Part 2 is where most the information is on Herod and the truth that every elect saint killed Jesus that day, not with out own hands but through our sins. Excellent preaching of God's word.
Great Sermon! This sermon is a great encouragement. Sometimes I'm so overwhelmed by my unworthiness that I fail to see God's love in Christ. I fail to enjoy His love to me, how sad, how wrong that is. This was a much needed lesson for me. God's ways are past finding out, for how can He love sinners so much? What a great mystery.
Great Sermon! There is an excellent list of reason, given in this sermon, that the Sanhedrin may have come up with to accuse Jesus at His illegal trial. It's amazing that they finally settled on a charge that they knew was false by their own words in Matthew 27:63. I'm reminded of what Jesus said in Matthew 12:36,37 "“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”"
Excellent Sermon! This sermon is so good, I couldn't help but feel my own sin and sympathize with Peter and how grieved he must of been, especially when our Lord looked at him, when their eyes met, oh, Pastor Marquedant really brings home that moment. I hope everyone will have a chance to hear this sermon. It would be all to frightening if it weren't for God's perfect purpose in allowing it and His great mercy and love to forgive Peter and His perfect justic to lay that sin on His own Son. How unknowable are the ways of the Lord and how great is His love. The teaching on the different Greek words for love was very helpful.
Great Sermon! This is such a good sermon. I hope to never forget the lessons taught. I believe that, more often then I even realize, I take Scripture out of context. It is a joy to know that we are the nation that is blessed! And, it is good to be on guard against misapplying God's word.
Great Sermon! I learned something I never knew before, about the man who ran naked from the temple guards. I believe that this Pastor is correct in his thinking about who it was and why he was dressed as he was. I also really liked getting the whole picture from all four gospel accounts.
Outstanding Sermon! There is so much insight and wisdom in this sermon it's unbelievable. The passion of Christ; I've never heard a more moving sermon. I'm looking forward to the continuation of this message. What great things the Lord has done for us.
