Judges is right "If your Papist annoys you with the word (alone), tell him straightway, Dr. Martin Luther will have it so: Papist and ass are one and the same thing. Whoever will not have my translation, let him give it the go-by: the devil's thanks to him who censures it without my will and knowledge. Luther will have it so, and he is a doctor above all the doctors in Popedom." Luther broadcast 16th Century weed seeds of total autonomy which are sprouting in our day (e.g., divorce, remarriage, adultery, abortifacients, fornication, abortion, female preachers, homosexuality and eventually, polygamy). Antinomians fill almost every pew and pulpit. They're not listening to Bible, creed or confession. "And everyone did what was right in his own eyes." Though Christ was head of His OT people, Israel, they had judges and kings. Christianity should listen to the book of Judges and find a righteous earthly leader. Excellent dialogue.
Helpful, but... This is a helpful discussion. Scott Brown is certainly on to something. Yes, my fear is this: have we forgotten that are Already Gone from the womb. Do we need to teach creation? Yes. Do we need to stress the centrality of the home and especially the father? Yes. But let us not forget the need for a solid conversion to God. Let us stress the marks of true and saving religion. Let us preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. For ultimately speaking, children leave the church because they are unconverted. This I fear is an overlooked fact.
Excellent Because there are counterfeit gospels and thus much uncertainty regarding the Gospel definition, doesn't the Nicene Creed, the universal Gospel in a nutshell for over 1,600 years, remain the Gospel summary? [Ref. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicene_Creed] How could one be considered a Christian and disagree with it? Since no Reformation creed has supplanted it, isn't the Nicene Creed, the Gospel summary? Thank you!
No Unpardonable Sin? If there's no unpardonable sin, then how could a Gay Christian lose his salvation? We know several baptized Christians who are fornicating or engaged in adultery, yet aren't these sins classified as already pardoned? If this is incorrect, does the classical doctrine that there is no unpardonable sin need review and update? Great show Pastor Boling!
Courage to Multiply? Dear Pastor Boling, Thank you for your discussion with Dr. Wells about his book: "The Courage to Be Protestant: Truth-lovers, Marketers, and Emergents in the Postmodern World." Isn't multiplication also a factor as implied by the question about the burgeoning number of homeschoolers? A case in point is researcher and author, Dr. Eric Kaufmann, a secular liberal scholar of politics at the University of London, who has written the following soon-to-be-released significant book: “Shall the Religious Inherit the Earth?” Who, did the research find, shall “inherit the Earth”?: (1.) Old Order Amish, (2.) Quiverfull Evangelical Movement, (3.) Traditional Latin Mass Catholics, (4.) American Mormons, (5.) Hasidic Jews and (6.) Muslims. In the final analysis, will it be marketers, "Emergents" and denominations who will survive or those with the courage to obey God, be fruitful and multiply?
Great Sermon! I thank you for speaking on this topic today. I am one that has died myself from 9mm gunshot to head as an unsaved person and went to Hell until the covental prayer from my wife moved the very Hand of God to extract me. She's released a book chronicling this "A Day in Hell; Death to Life to Hope"
Great Sermon! Not since Wally Pip's headache gave Lou Gehrig some playing for the Yanks has there been a more timely and hard hitting back up radio host for Kevin Boling than Mel Duncan!
(just kidding KB) I'm glad you're back home from the West, a real privilege to susbtitute for you last week on "Knowing the Truth."
Mel
This new book is necessary for the sake of the pop-culture minded. I am also interested in it as it reflects some recent research and musing of my own:
Ken, I'm sorry that I'll have to miss your interview. I am very thankful for your work, regarding this Erskine matter. May the Lord richly bless your efforts!
Great Show Kevin,
