Excellent Exposition! This sermon is jam-packed with solid, reformed, covenantal theology that exalts the Lord Jesus Christ as the one Mediator between God and man in both Testaments. The continuity of the covenant of grace in its various administrations is clearly explained according to Scripture. Glory to God.
Strong Sermon! This sermon gives us great insight into the belief and behavior of Paul as he looked to Jesus Christ to live his life as the great Apostle. If we could follow how Paul depended on Jesus Christ, our life would be more fulfilled.
Great insight here.
Great Sermon! A wonderful exposition of this vile and inhumane sin that has polluted America. Thanks for addressing this topic and reminding us all that God will not be mocked.
Great Sermon! You have to ask the question: Are there sodomites on the "Supreme" Court. The answer is, yes, of course; right now, there are 5 sodomites on the "Supreme" Court. How can I say that? Simple. These wicked civil magistrates, by their decision, have demonstrated that they would be perfectly happy living in Sodom. But, as God's Word teaches, they too are destined to suffer the same doom as those who lived in Sodom before it was obliterated by Jehovah. For these wicked "Supreme" Court justices will also "Suffer the vengeance of eternal fire," (Jude, 7) as will every other civil magistrate that validates such wickedness by upholding this demonic, anti-Christian decision in their policies. There are very few pastors and preachers with the moral courage of Brian Schwertley. I often think of Brian as being "America's Martin Luther." May our great God and Savior continue to bless him, and strengthen him, in his ministry.
Great resource I greatly appreciated the reading of this classic. This is a good, clear systematic theology that covers the important doctrines of the Christian faith: the nature of God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, the sacraments, etc. It's an old book but still very practical and applicable. Highly recommended.
Mention When facing frustration about other's disregard on the matter, it is fitting to recollect that there is always a price to pay when one loves truth and purity more than things, people, or self. Philippians 1:29 testifies to this: ‘unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake’.
Great Sermon! Yes, B. McCausland
This was indeed a great message. You seem always prepared to recommend timely sermons. How do you tell your fellow congregants
Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, (Jude 11)? Without being isolated or ostracized.
What I see happening among my circle of fellow believers is that they feel comfortably nostalgic with man-made celebrations. We are to consider those weak in the faith. But how can you strengthen those who don't want to grow or to see the salvation of the Lord in their midst.
One can mistakenly personalize the opposition and withdraw without healthy fellowship.
But often I forget where in Luke 4, after the wilderness temptation, Jesus went into the temple. The hearers rejected the man, the method, and the message of the God of all grace. How can I tell them that God will not bless those rejecting truth?
Great Sermon! B. McCausland
Perhaps you can assist me. I listened to Mr. Schwertley. I grow from his portions.
Just short of two minutes into his message he is saying, "We don;t want to mix pagan elements or . . . ??? Is he saying popery (from Pope) or potpourri?
It is ironic I can't make out the word being used, when the point is made with both usages.
I want to encourage bloggers to pray that God opens the eyes of those who have been blinded by false teachers. Only God can open the eyes of a man.
Effective delivery Mr Schwertley demostrates he has cleverly thought through the matter using extensive research.
The three presentations in this series are informative, challenging and thought-provoking.
Great Sermon! Rev. Schwertley, can you please make a few comments on smoking, pipe smoking, weed, and cigarettes. Can you explain which makes one lawful and the other not. I'm of the opinion that smoking a cigar or pipe is lawful, but cigarette smoking and weed are not, for various reasons, but I would like your opinions on this.
Positive defence of an abandoned practice It is pleasant to find someone taking time to refute from historical and biblical grounds the ‘cultural’ interpretation of the head-covering’s passage. True, the lack of doctrinal and ethical integrity of preachers today compels them to adjust the interpretation they give to match the current modernistic change of this practice. As baptism and the Lord’s Supper, head covering is an outward token speaking of biblical realities. In the case of the head covering it signalises and declares to the world the church's submission to God’s revealed order. It stands opposite to the unisex philosophy of our time, which is by no means biblical. Also, the practice of head covering develops distinctiveness in the church that contributes to the biblical identity of the flock of Christ.
Great Sermon! Enjoyed your sermon on this topic and agree that Christmas is a lie. However, I hesitate to share this, although I would love to get this message out, because of another untruth that was presented, that is the changing of the 7th day Sabbath to Sunday is not in scripture. The Catholic church admits to changing the true Sabbath from the 7th day to Sunday by Pope Gregory. Please research this and would love to share your info with my family, but can't due to this. The whole presentation needs to be truth for me to share.....Praying for total truth to be presented and thank you for understanding this is not to be a discouragement but encouraging as you have a very fine way of showing the truth to others. I am desperate for my family to not be led astray on either topic. Praise God for your 52 Sabbath days of celebrating His birth through worshipping Him together on those commanded days of honoring the Sabbath, which was shown to us in Genesis at the beginning when God created in 6 days and rested on the 7th day. Thank you for being bold and speaking out on what many churches today promote and yes Christmas is a lie and it does matter to our Lord.
THE GREAT LIE! I love the emphasis "CHRISTMAS IS A LIE!" The Father of lies has duped many so-called believers.
Jesus told the Jews in John 8 "He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God."
In 1 John 2 we find that John wrote to believers "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."
When believers, so-called, participate in idolatrous practices, they are no different the followers of the one who deceived Eve asking, "... hath God said?"
The peer pressure and the persecution that comes from the world, when going against the culture, is hard for some. This is why gathering with like-minded believers is crucial. We strengthen one another.
Thank you for a thorough examination of the scripture.
CHRISTMAS IS A LIE! SO IS HALLOWEEN!
Thanks for Narrating This I discovered these narrations since they were linked to on another site promoting the works of John Gill that Duane narrated. I have narrated this sermon myself about 10 times over the years, but am always interested in listening to other narrators. It is the more interesting when it is done before a live audience. I would like to hear you narrate The General Judgment by Samuel Davies, and I would love to be in the audience. I prefer the deeper voice narrations and when someone will narrate something like the works of Gill or Ryle or others, I am thankful because everyone wants to narrate Spurgeon, or Edwards famous "Sinners" sermon. Keep up the good work, my heart needs the exhortations. T M S puritanaudiobooks.net
John Robbins... I appreciated much of your message, as the FV is a growing plague on the church today. I have never read or heard anywhere where the late John Robbins suggested that Van Til taught something equating to the Federal Vision. He instead made the valid point that the concept of believing contradictory propositions (you can add the word "apparent" if you like) has enabled FV advocates to themselves believe and teach contradictory things, as to them, the contradictions are also only "apparent." Once you dispense of the use of "logic" and embrace "mystery", you are going to have to deal with heretics who do the same exact thing, except that you will no longer have the advantage of refuting their false propositions with "logic" anymore (eg. Jesus said "I am the door." Yes Jesus is God, but somehow he is a physical door too, and no I can't resolve the contradiction because it is a mystery and "apparent" contradiction.)
