Great Sermon! I enjoyed his biblical message based on Sovereignty of God and Regeneration of Holy Spirit. Book of James is more appropriate to see through Calvinistic doctrine of grace.
Great Sermon! Thanks John for your encouragement in these dark days. We will not bow down either and we will continue to pray for and men like you , that the Lord will strengthen you to stand firm no matter what.
Great Sermon! ..... and this was more than three years ago! I don’t know what goes on in other churches currently, but ours does not address these dangerous issues and it should!!!
Great Sermon! As I was listening, I was thinking how loud an AMEN that RC Sproul would have added to this. Onward Christian soldiers , marching as to war . God bless you and keep you, Pastor MacArthur
Confusing It seems that he is believing every claim of demonic activity that people proposing. Just because people claim demons helped them write a book doesn’t mean they did. It could have been a marketing scheme. We don’t believe it when people claim they went to Heaven. Why give these claims so much credit? All people who are not children of God are under the control of Satan. However, superstitions, horoscopes and and fortune tellers are often as wrong in their predictions. I believe dabbling in which craft is wrong and forbidden by scripture.
Great Sermon! Thank you for this great sermon. Having walked away from a gay lifestyle 8 years ago after 15 years to Christ’s call; I often find the Christian community hurtful at times offensive to gay people. Not being the typical gay many Church people have made comments in my presence having no idea I was gay. Some offensive to the point of causing my departure. Your words were just but compassionate.
Please remember though that the gay community is as diverse as any. We’re not all sex maniacs.
Good, brief and helpful JMac can pack a lot of understanding into a very brief message, and this gave some added clarity to how to understand the devil from Eph. 2.
Great Sermon! Thanking God for sound teaching. It is this type of teaching that helps me grow in my faith. Culture keeps repeating the lie and now calls it truth through the Democratic party. They value cultural opinionson morality over God's Word.
Damaging message to the kingdom of satan!! This type message will become more and more rare as our generation comes to its end...thank God for the determination by Pastor John MacAuthur and a few leaders with a zeal for preaching sound doctrine. Heaven smile upon you sir til we meet with our Prince in the air!!
Salvation by grace He who believes has eternal life. Jesus qualifies salvation solely by faith, not works before or after. We should naturally progress in good works, but this doesn't qualify or define what faith is.
True eternal security There's no doubt there are people who never really believed. But the Bible has far too many instances of believers who fall aside to say that they aren't really believers. People can be Shipwrecked in the faith. This doesn't mean they are Shipwrecked in false faith, they are Shipwrecked in the faith. So some believers will be saved yet so as by fire. They will not be Faithful Servants of Christ. Just as we are sons of God by faith but this doesn't mean that every son is a pleasing Son of God. This is the better biblical balance.
Wonderful Sermon! There's so much in this sermon. One thing he tells us is to use Isaiah 53 when we present the gospel. We need to present Jesus Christ in the language of sacrifice, as the suffering servant of God. Yes definitely, not in the way many Christians present him these days, as a nice guy who can fix problems in your life. And there's much more. Very rich. Thank you.
Good teaching Good teaching on why the Jewish nation as well as many Gentiles reject Christ. I had never heard that one point before about the rabbis removing the "a" in Y'shua to make an acrostic that means "let his name be forgotten".
William Ames and Gambling - A Correction According to the following quotation the mention, in this MP3, that William Ames defended gambling is not correct,
"On December 21, 1609, when Ames preached a stinging sermon on St. Thomas’s Day—an annual festivity at Cambridge which had become increasingly raucous over the years—and denounced gambling, administering the “salutary vinegar of reproof,” the college authorities had him taken into custody and suspended him from his academic degrees and ecclesiastical duties. After a brief period as city lecturer in Colchester, Ames was forbidden to preach by George Abbott, Bishop of London. In 1610, Ames decided to seek the freer academic and ecclesiastical climate of the Netherlands where he remained for the rest of his life." - http://www.meetthepuritans.com/blog/meet-puritan-william-ames
Another quote on gambling: "It is … ordered that all persons whatsoever that have cards, dice or tables in their houses, shall make away with them before the next court under pain of punishment." - March 22, 1631, the General Court, Massachusetts Bay Colony
Otherwise, a number of good points are made throughout this series of three MP3 messages. For more against gambling (i.e., Godless gaming) see the free MP3 http://ow.ly/nT2H30fOz6p.
