The letter to the Romans explains God's work for us, God's work in us, and God's plan for us, on the basis of His complete salvation.
Being discussed are the results of the Holy Spirit's indwelling ministry in those who have experienced God's salvation. The behavior of believers will be increasingly characterized by the self-sacrificing love shown by God in giving Christ to die for sin. The actions of believers will demonstrate this love, thereby bearing evidence of their yielding to the Spirit at work to transform their lives. Disagreements and conflicts within the community of believers will then be handled with this love conditioning responses and resolutions.
Believers will not only be maturing to love as God loves and what God loves, but will also hate what God hates. As a result there will be practical boundaries drawn for life and lifestyles defined by what God deems as good and right. This will create a growing chasm between the world's changing standard of morality and God's unchanging standard the believer is being conformed to.
