The local church, as the manifestation of the body of Christ, is a living spiritual organism. Serving independently or in isolation is not the pattern given by God in His Word.
Those gifted to teach will concentrate their efforts in studying as preparation to teach by explaining the Word of God.
The gift of exhortation involves coming alongside others to challenge them to grow in godliness by explaining the Word of God and by way of giving reminders of it. This will include encouragement, admonishment, comfort, and urging according to the need those called alongside of.
God gifts some in the body with the ability to provide leadership. This gift is very similar to that of administration, both carrying great responsibility for the body. Qualifications for the leadership of men to carry this responsibility are elaborated on in other New Testament epistles.
Comfort and care for members of the body going through difficult circumstances will be provided by those who are given the gift of showing mercy or compassion.
