God has his way in the whirlwind What an amazing lesson about deliverance from depths of hopelessness is found in the historical narrative in the 27th chapter of the book of Acts pertaining to the men caught in the Euroclydon storm in the Mediterranean Sea. A ship full of prisoners bound for Rome, yet both prisoners and overseers are brought to a common level in the face of the relentless fury of the storm, and the seemly sure death that was fast approaching. It was only a matter of time and they would be no more, but no, God appears to Paul and outlines how they are to escape with their lives. Praise God!
Serving the Lord. Thank you for making real to me this blessed women! What a great dedication and love for Christ it was to follow Him everywhere He went, serving Him! Her devotion for her sons is understandable. However, I think that not only her sons, but she also erred when she came to the Lord with her request. She dared to ask Him something what was only the authority of God to determine and to bestow (verse 23), not of a man or woman to wish or ask! She had a parental love for her sons, but she erred in spiritual things here.
Excellent! I never heard such a clear presentation of the tragedy of Lot’s family. Very good the observation that Lot’s wife was not in the home over that night, but in the city. However, I think that the 2 daughter were not with her in the city over night, because we found them in the house with Lot in verse 8. Yes, their mother was a bad example for them and their future immorality had its cause from her example. And I think that the married daughters of Lot, and maybe sons (verse 12) perished with the city, because, as preacher stated, “were not found” (v. 15).
Great motives. Several motives to be a Free Presbyterian: FPC it is a Protestant church, free from alliance with ecumenism and Rome, Reformed, prayerful, preaching, passionate church.
