I will have to say that it was the first time I have ever heard, from the pulpit, what I believe to be the right explanation for Jephthah’s vow and his actions regarding his only child when she came out to meet him after his return from the battle with the Ammonites. To think that God would accept a human sacrifice for whatever reason is beyond imagination, not to mention that he was listed in the great cloud of witnesses in Hebrews 11. What vastness of theology is contained in one simple verse of scripture. Sooner would one measure the vastness of our universe than fathom the God of Holy Writ. If this sermon dosent cause the sinner to fall down at the feet of this God, I dont know what will. As for me all I can pray is, I must decrease and He increase. Truly He is glorious in holiness fearful in praises doing wonders.
