forgot to say... The SDA Sabbath school lessons come out of the SDA General Conference, which dictates all of what they teach everyone on Saturday mornings. The lesson booklets have lessons for adults as well as children's lesson plans. These lessons often include passages from EG White's writings written into the lesson but then does not give any citation to indicate that this is including such writings let alone where they are from. This, again, is deceptive, or at very least, sloppy writing. The SDA learners/Sabbath School attenders are misled to assume this is coming straight out of the Bible. Often SDA members will say things like Adam was over 9 feet tall, thinking it is in the Bible when in actuality it is one of EG White's "prophecies".
Great Sermon! I was brought up Seventh-day Adventist. Thankfully the Lord saved even me. It is true that it is very difficult to extricate oneself from this cult, and yes it is a cult. I heard that the man who started the Jehovah's Witnesses also came out of the Millerite movement. Seventh-day Adventism is a religion, however being saved by Jesus is a changed life not enslaved to a religion. There is a huge difference.
Great Sermon! Phil does a great job explaining the connection/relationship of Adam's sinful nature and Jesus' rightful nature and how we are overcome from death to life by the decision of God and Jesus before time began. There is nothing that we can do for salvation -- it is totally by the Grace of God and the Work of Jesus that we are accepted as righteous.
Great Sermon! Phil does a good job describing the praying life of Elijah to have God show His answer to him. And with these examples we can see how we should pray to God to know His Will and have our prayers answered. There's much good guidance for all of us.
Great Sermon! I remember when I first read this in Romans that I was astonished by the implication. I had to keep reading it over and over as I had never heard such things. I am blessed in hearing you expound it even tho it's many years hence since first hearing it. Thank you. Still astounds.
Great Sermon! Thank you. I really appreciate this message. I've always been foggy on the meaning of this portion of God's Word, but you brought real clarity to it and to my understanding of it. Blessed me.
Exceptional This was fantastic. Plenty of good information about the JW's, but more importantly, other than just giving Christians a better understanding of this cult, very early into the message it makes the important point that our goal should be to clobber the JW's but rather sincerely, and with love, share the gospel message with them, which sadly many of them have never heard honestly presented to them. Much to think about from this message.
Great Sermon! A provoking look into the 3 major philosophical beliefs in Greece that Paul faced as he preached the Gospel. Phil does an excellent job giving us an historical picture of what dominated the city that first heard the meaning of Christianity -- very interesting overview described indepth.
Revealing Sermon! While the entire sermon was revealing, a phrase Phil used "That trying to hide a secret sin from God was as if you were an atheist and did not fear God" That's a very unusual way of looking and analyzing secret sins -- makes me think more deeply about that.
Powerful Sermon! This is one of the most thoroughly analyzed and defined explanations of what Christ Jesus means to us as believers in the Lord and Savior. Phil covers all aspects of what God gives us and what we "owe" to God in return -- not that we gain anything by our behavior, but we see what is inherent in our union with God. This is one of Phil's most powerful and meaningful sermons. I will definitely listen to it more than a couple of times to be reinforced by all it offers.
Great Sermon! Brother Phil does an excellent job explaining the differences of the Two Covenants as they apply to Sarah and Hagar and each of their sons. There is much to this history that is the foundation today's wars in that area. It's always interesting to hear more explanation of parts of the Old Testament and Phil always does a insightful job.
Must Hear Sermon! Brother Phil does an outstanding job showing the difference of Grace and the Law. He makes strong points on the necessity of Grace and of the value of Law in understanding True Salvation. Too many of today's churches mix the two together and end up with confusion and erroneous understanding of Grace and the Law. Once you hear this sermon you should not be following preachers who don't preach a clear distinction of these two important parts in the Holy Bible.
Fabulous! Once again, Pastor Don Green delivers a thoughtful, powerful sermon. This sermon beautifully compliments Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones' words in his book, "Spiritual Depression." It boils down to Faith. If we truly have a proper understanding of our Lord, anxiety will not be entertained but we will be able to trust Him in everything. It is amazing how our Lord meets our needs-from reading Dr. Jones' written words to hearing Pastor Green who both essentially said the same thing all on the same day. Thank you, thank you, Pastor Green. Blessings to you.
