Thank You! I soooo needed to hear this message. Some brothers in the Lord that I listen to on a regular basic—they are so sound in other areas--continually teach what your message talks about; and I just found out they're the “no Hebrew, no Greek” folks too! In the past I would just cast that part of what they were saying aside, but in the last few weeks this teaching had finally become a burden to me. When you incessantly hear something from the people you respect, and you know it's not right, you have really sound reasons, but...well...these people are very sound in their other teachings, maybe you're the one that's wrong. I was wavering. “Oh, Lord,” I cried out, “help me settle this! I don't want to do anything that's against You!” This message, Brother Sean, has set me upright again.
You know, one of the points they continually make is about God preserving His Word. It has come back to mind that He has. The Holy Bible is the most documented Writing of what we call the ancient writings. No other work is even close to the Bible in being reproduced in whole or in part. God has preserved His Word!!!
Reply To Pastor Bill To answer your specific ? Daniels prophecy states that after 69 weeks or 483 yrs the messiah would be cutoff. This is after his anointing in Mark 1:9-11. Therefore we are now into the final week 70th week. In the middle of the week he would be cutoff or crucified. We can debate on exact dates etc, but there is no debating in my opinion that Daniel 9 is a messianic prophecy of the highest accuracy of the coming of the messiah. I don't see how anyone can substitute the messiah with the anti-Christ. Unless their presuppositions has a future 7r tribulation with a focus on ethnic or national Israel. But 70 AD finish that for good.
Thanks For The Information! Thanks for letting me "sit in" your class. The information has been interesting. I'm happy knowing that I don't have to take the test. :-)
Reply To Pastor Bill I have come full circle on my eschatology. From a Dispensational pre-trib rapture and pre-millennial view to a reform view of the end times. My eschatology finally caught up with my soteriology.
Matt 24:1-35 has been fulfilled and 36-51 and Matt 25 are future. Still yet to come. Daniels' 70th week or a future 7 yr trib is the backbone of the pre-trib dispenationalist as you well know. Take it away and dispensationalism falls apart. Apostasy, persecution of the Church and the beast or the man of sin is all that we should be watching for. 2 Thess 2.
Reply to Alfred Regarding reality to the believer...yes, I agree the sacrifices were finished at his crucifixion.
You must, then, believe the 69th week ended at his baptism...3.5 years before his death?
Reply To Pastor Bill No, on the contrary, the temple worship and sacrifices continue, right up until 70 AD. Jesus' sacrifice should have ended them, the tearing of the veil was evidence to that. In fact it did end for the elect, the true Israel of God.l No more circumcision of the flesh, the new covenant, Heb. 10:12-18. It is Finish means what it says. Don't you think?
Great Sermon! Let me correct you. Obama is not black he's mixed. I know a lot of people discount his white mother.so no he's not our first black president. Everything else I agree with. God bless
Reply to Alfred Dear Friend,
You are assuming that the "tearing of the veil" ended "sacrifice and oblation." Where is your proof to this statement? As a matter of fact, the writer of Hebrews says the opposite: Hebrews 9:25, for example.
Reply to Wiggooch It seems you are assuming "physical death" and "spiritual death" are one and the same. What if Romans 5:12 speaks of spiritual death? That would imply that Adam was spiritually alive, yes, but more than that: It also allows that he could be spiritually dead and live perpetually in his fallen state had he access to the tree of life, correct?
Great Sermon! There are many double fulfillments in the bible and I agree this is one. Nut, I believe this generation that Jesus is referring to is that generation of Jews alive at the time. Those who would see the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. As for Daniel 9, I believe the scripture is referring to Jesus not the Beast. Jesus is the one cutoff in the middle of the week, He is the one who shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease. In Matt 27:51 the veil was torn into, making an end of temple sacrifices and oblations. Hebrews, Jesus made one sacrifice for all, just once. After the veil was torn Jews continue with temple worship, sacrifices and offerings. This was an abomination to the Lord and in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple, Jesus put an end to it and made it desolate. And it will remain desolate until the consummation of the age or Kingdom. I do not believe there is an 70th week of Daniel as taught by many pre-trib/pre-mil believers.
Great Sermon! Hi. Great conversation on a topic that really gets you thinking. I have a question, though. In one part of the conversation, it was brought up whether Adam was immortal when he was created. The general consensus seemed to be "no". My question is this...The bible is quite clear in Romans 5:12 that death was brought into the world through sin. Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" How could Adam have not been immortal before the fall, or am I just missing something or misunderstanding? Thank you very much.
Trump is a gift to Christians, so now we see what 1) The theory of picking the lesser of two evils may not always be the only way to look at elections. There should be a fairly stable standard, as opposed to ever changing standards by comparing to the other side. Here is an extreme example, Hitler and Mao, by applying the lesser of two evils formula, Hitler wins, you can argue you save millions of lives by voting for Hitler, since Mao kills many many more people in peace time. There is always a worse candidate if you compare closely. Isn't that the reason RINOes are RINOes? They are always more conservative than the other side.
2) The short term outcome is not always the biggest incentive for picking the candidate. I would think that leaving the outcome to the Lord is more biblical. David should kill Saul when he has the opportunity, if the short term outcome is the main consideration. The only reason David does the opposite is not a worldly one, he respects God's anointing.
Is it good to keep Israel ruled by a demon possessed evil king?
I think leaving the outcome to the Lord is liberating.
3) even from the worldly short term outcome's perspective, voting for Trump has some negatives, like the damage for the reputation of Christianity, the damage for the conservative brand.
Great Sermon! Just as a sidenote on the Fallon Fox issue, he doesn't fight in the UFC. Fox has only fought on small shows because no major organization wants anything to do with the controversy. Even smaller organizations are running away from the issue as Fox hasn't been booked for a fight since September 2014. It's worth noting that he actually took a fight post-surgery and LOST via TKO to a woman.
Reply: I visit their site re-thinking hell, and they did compile a nice list of verses that hell preachers use, i just think their interpretation is wrong.
While much can be said, I wanna post 2 verses:
And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name." (Revelation 14:11 ESV)
and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:10, 14, 15 ESV)
If words have any meaning, then it seems the devil will be tormented forever and ever in the lake of fire, so the lake is really a tormenting place. And it is also a place of torment for anyone who is not written in the book of life.
The is a book called the gagging of God by D.A Carson, the last chapter has about 20 pages of rebuttal on this topic.
Great Sermon! I think what is confusing to some is the terms anti-christ and the Beast. They are not the same person, or persons. The term anti-christ is used only five times in the Bible all in 1 and 2 John. It is never used in The Revelation. The Beast in Rev 13, the man of lawlessness, 2 Thess 2 and the little Horn in Dan 7 are one and the same in my opinion. Him, Satan and the false prophet will be defeated and destroyed in one final battle in Rev 16, 19 and 20. I do not believe there will be multiple battles. I believe the events in Rev 16:13-16 and Rev 20 are too similar not be the same event.
