Biblical salvation. Salvation does not involve an external improvement of behavior, but a supernatural change of heart which only the Holy Spirit can make. And a forgiveness of sin because of Jesus' sufferings for the sins of His people.
Great tests. This sermon shows how serious and responsible must be a church in choosing ministers, and how serious and responsible must be a man to search himself in the light of Scripture if he desire to be a minister.
Very useful. This was a very useful message. It is good to search again our hearts in the light of Bible teaching regarding ministry in the church.
Very useful. This was a blessed message for my heart. Six wrong motives for desiring to enter a ministry of teaching. Very clear teaching helping people to search their hearts and motives in regard of this.
Great Sermon! I've listened to the first three messages in this series. Even after reading the book itself (the Rushing abridgement), I am still gleaning new things from this and I am coming away with even more conviction toward sin and the need to fight it with Christ's help. Thank you.
Anointed Man of God Fantastic message. I've heard many sermons f/ Albert Martin and I think this sermon is a lot older than 1994. I'm guessing early 70's. I've never heard a more articulate preacher ever.
Thanks for this series There is a phrase that Owen uses that may give us some concern if not understood correctly. He speaks of not speaking peace to ourselves until God speaks peace to us. This would argue that the saint was walking very close to God indeed. But how to deal with this idea without supposing you are getting some special revelation of word of knowledge. I have read this in puritan writings for years and there is a parallel statement that sheds light on it in Thomas Goodwin's book, the Return of Prayers, page 31 if you are looking at the edition at books.google.com. "There is an enlargement of the affections, and a lingering and longing and restlessness of spirit to be alone and to power out the soul to God... And this is speaking to the heart, and observe such times when God does thus, and neglect them not, then to strike while the iron is hot etc." More can be said, but my note must be short.
Another great overview There is one absolutely crucial statement in this part of Owen's work that Mr.DeJuana reminds us of. Mortification is a means to the end of our salvation not the cause and effect of it. I know how it is with myself, especially when I get to chapter 9 and Owen talks about the dangerous symptoms of any lust, (1)its inveterateness. If the foundation is not properly laid, than Owen will pierce too you deep with the lancet, and assurance will flee. The process will be attempted out of servile fear, aiming to gain God's acceptance instead of obedience OUT OF this evangelical motive. Owen understands this thoroughly. ref. Application of the Glory of Christ SID=931214382410 and SID=12100822434010 on SermonAudio. Rabbi Duncan said of Owen's treatise, Indwelling Sin "be prepared for the knife." But M'Cheyene rightly said with every one look within, take ten looks to Christ.
As Good as it Gets I am gratified to see our Reformed Baptist brethren teaching through Owen's work. For example, while Frank Dejuana was preaching this in Montville, the same day Stephen Gambill - also a graduate of T.M.A. was preaching it in Nashville. http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=1229121559190 I must admit that I really like Mr.De Juana's delivery and I know I will not be satisfied with 5 messages on 14 chapters, but Les Walthers has preached through it twice, between these men I will be have to be content! I just finished narrating Owen's Treatise on Indwelling Sin, and still I welcome the warnings that these messages bring, as well as the instruction.
Great Sermon! This is a wonderful message!
Enoch is one of the least talked about bible personalities in the bible. Yet, his life has such an impact on understanding spirituality.
Thank you!

Great Sermon! If I am going to be honest with myself. I am guilty of this. This message shook me. Lord, I pray that I do not pull out the arrows you have shot into my heart for my own good, but that I will instead seek your face and surrender to you. Amen.
Great Sermon! Thank you Lord Jesus for giving gifts to your church like pastor Albert Martin. We do not worship men. But we recognize when the Lord Jesus grants gifts in understanding, teaching and preaching God's word dividing it aright to the edification of His church. Thank you pastor Martin for your labors and for your example to us who have grown up in the faith under the influence of your ministry!
Biblically True Heard about the sermon from Ray Comfort and the On The Box youtube program. He directed his audience to the sermon in response to a question about proper attire for women engaged in witnessing/open air preaching. Enjoyed it.
