As this epistle begins it does so with one long sentence in the original Greek elaborating on God's sovereign work in bringing sinners into a right relationship with Himself. He has revealed that He is one God existing supernaturally as three separate persons all whom had a vital role in the salvation of man. God's choice so save some from the mass of sinful humanity was for His glory with no one deserving of being chosen or having earned His favor. He has no obligation to save any or who to chose as all deserve His punishment being under His wrath. Only by His direct intervention in individual lives by His plan of salvation accomplished by His Son is His holiness, justice, and love without compromise or contradiction.

God claims the right so to do ( Rom. 9:16 , 21 ). It is not conditioned on faith or repentance, but is of soverign grace (...Eph. 1:3-6 ). All that pertain to salvation, the means ( Eph. 2:8... ) as well as the end, are of God ( ...Eph. 2:5 , 10 ). Faith and repentance and all other graces are the exercises of a regenerated soul; and regeneration is God’s work, a “new creature.” Men are elected “to salvation,” “to the adoption of sons,” “to be holy and without blame before him in love” (...Eph. 1:4 ). The ultimate end of election is the praise of God’s grace ( Eph. 1:6 , 1
