MARK YOUR CALENDAR
Pastor Todd Nibert will preach for us on Thursday, July 31st. There will be no service on Wednesday, July 30th.
Scripture teaches that guilt was imputed and a sin nature was imparted to all men when Adam fell in the garden. Therefore, salvation must be by grace. If salvation is by grace sinners will be saved. But if salvation is by any combination of grace and works no sinner can be saved.
Preparing ourselves for worship
Ecclesiastes 5:1 says “…be more ready to hear!”
We couldn’t imagine the preacher stepping into the pulpit NOT being ready to preach! We couldn’t imagine him NOT praying to God, begging God for His message of the hour. We couldn’t imagine him NOT earnestly asking for His blessing, and His Spirit in the delivery of His Word! But have we ever stopped to realize that it is just as vital for us to be “ready to hear,” as it is for the preacher to be ready to preach? How often do we come to worship assuming that our God will bless His message to our hearts? Our Lord said: “I WILL DO all these things for my people,” but in Ezekiel 36:37 He said: “I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them.” Our Lord plainly told us: “Ask, and it shall be given you!” Do you desire a blessing from His Word today? Ask Him for it! Enquire of Him for it! Ask Him to bring you to the house of God PREPARED for worship! Ask Him to make you “ready to hear,” beg Him for His message of the hour. Earnestly ask Him for His blessing and His Spirit in the hearing of His Word! Lord, make your servant ready to declare!…and make us your servants “ready to hear!”

THE REAL ISSUE
The religious leaders of our day have raised many issues – moral, social, political, etc. – but for the most part they have missed the vital issue altogether! While promoting that which in itself may be good, they have missed that which is best. While contending, perhaps very gallantly, for change and reform, they have missed life itself (Himself).
Modern religion is rather like –if you can imagine such a thing – many companies promoting and trying to sell their particular brand of ammunition to people, people WHO DO NOT HAVE A GUN! The ammunition may be good, but of what possible advantage will it be when its possessor comes under attack? Even so, what will it profit a man in the day of God’s judgment, though he has been a lifelong religious, social, political activist and reformer, if he has missed the vital issue – CHRIST AND LIFE?
Oh! Dear souls, I pray unto God that each of us may recognize and promote the one issue which is vital to the glory of God and the salvation of man’s immortal soul – “JESUS CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED.” We do not have the time (nor the inclination, I hope) to discuss and debate, nor give attention to all the issues modern religion has raised. And if we would be of help to the souls of men and women, we must stick with the question of questions – “WHAT THINK YE OF CHRIST?” As you and I – and all men and women – stand before God, the all-important question is, “what do we think of God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ?” If one truly knows the Christ of God, then he loves Him, worships Him, trusts Him, serves Him, and follows Him in the spirit of gracious obedience.
Pastor Maurice Montgomery
There is nothing that keeps a man out of heaven but his own will. But, there is nothing that will keep a man out of hell but God’s will. Eternal life is by God’s will, God’s gift, and God’s work (Romans 9:16; 6:23; II Timothy 1:9). But eternal death is the result of man’s will, man’s work, and man’s merit (Proverbs 1:23-26; Romans 6:23; 10:21).
