PRECIOUS BLOOD
Don Fortner
A fountain from the throne of God
Of life abundant springs,
That through Immanuel's precious blood
Eternal blessings bring.
My awful debt I could not pay.
Justly condemned I stood,
'Til Jesus came and washed away
My debt with His own blood.
My debt He paid and washed away
My sins beneath the flood.
My guilt my Savior took away
By His atoning blood.
The voice that speaks in heav'n for me,
And there secures my good,
Is that which took the curse from me,
Christ's all-prevailing blood!
(Tune: When I Can Read My Title Clear)

WHY DO WARS CEASE?
Matthew 24:22 "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."
The vast majority of humanity does not realize that the reason wars cease is for the elect sake. What peace there is in this world is because God has an elect people in it, and, for their sakes, "He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire." (Ps 46:9). Thank The Lord for his election of grace. "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace." (Romans 11:5) Every war will have its end for their sakes.
THE WORST PLACE TO DROWN
Genesis 7:23 "And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark." I cannot think of a worse place to drown than beside the boat. Even so, I cannot think of a worse way to perish than under the sound of the gospel. Only those in Christ will remain alive when the flood of God's wrath comes for the last time, "...and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark."
THE WORLD BY WISDOM KNEW NOT GOD
Scott Richardson
What did the philosophy of Greece do for its disciples? It made them ignorant worshipers of an "unknown God" (Acts 17:23). The inscription on their altar published to the universe their ignorance and shame.
How can I know God? Where can I find Him? Can science and philosophy tell me? Have they ever told anyone? No, never. "The world by wisdom knew not God." The schools of ancient philosophy could only plunge the human mind into darkness and hopeless bewilderment, and the schools of modern philosophy are not one bit better. They give no certainty, no safe anchorage, no solid ground of confidence, only hopeless speculation, torturing doubt, wild and baseless theory. That's all human philosophy in any age or of any nation has to offer an earnest seeker of truth.
How then are we to know God? If such a stupendous result hangs on this knowledge; if to know God is life eternal, and Jesus says it is (John 17:3), then how is He to be known? "No man hath seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him" (John 1:18). Here we have the answer.
Christ reveals God to the soul and reveals the Father to the heart. We are not sent to creation to learn who God is, though we see His power, wisdom and goodness there. We are not sent to the law, though we see His holiness and justice there. No, if we want to know Whom and What God is, we are to look into the face of Jesus Christ, Who dwelt in His bosom before all worlds, Who was His eternal delight, the object of His affections (2Cor. 4:6).
"SEE YE NOT ALL THESE THINGS?"
Matthew 24:2 "And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down."
If all our hope and confidence is in Christ when "these things" are thrown down, we will not be disappointed.
