CALL TO WORSHIP
Glory to God the Father’s name
Who, from our sinful race
Chose out His people to proclaim
The glory of His grace.
Glory to God the Son be praised
Who dwelt in human clay
And, to redeem us from the dead
Gave His own life away.
Glory to God the Spirit give
From whose Almighty power
Our souls their heavenly birth derive
O bless the happy hour.
Glory to God that reigns above
Th’ eternal Three in One
Who by the wonders of His love
Has made His nature known.
God’s mercy is forever sure
Eternal is His name
As long as life and speech endure
My tongue this truth proclaim.
(Tune: “O For a Thousand Tongues” p. 46)

Preacher Worship
We must guard ourselves against Preacher Worship. Let us never be more taken up with the messenger than Christ who is their message. God has sent His Preachers into the world to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ. We love them, we esteem them highly in love for their work’s sake [I Thess. 5:13] but let us beware of creature worship, which we are prone to. I Corinthians 1:1-13 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? Revelation 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
Pastor John Chapman
We know that love is so important because the scriptures have so much to say on the subject. Love is not optional for a believer. Love is so important that the Savior commands believers to love one another. “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” (John 15:12) Love is so important that it is the outward evidence that a person is a believer. “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35)
Read these scriptures carefully and consider them.
“Follow after charity” (I Cor. 14:1)
“Let all your things be done with charity.” (I Cor. 16:14)
“Walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.” (Eph. 5:2)
“Above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.” (Col. 3:14)
“If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well” (James 2:8)
“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” (I Peter 4:8)
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” (I John 3:18)
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” (I John 4:7-8)
Seeing all of these scriptures command us to both feel and show love one to another, “See that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently.” (I Peter 1:22)
Pastor
In respect to GOD, the death of Christ was justice and mercy. In respect to THIS WORLD, the death of Christ was murder and cruelty. In respect to HIMSELF, the death of Christ was obedience and humility. In respect to HIS ELECT, the death of Christ was wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.
John Flavel
