Cleansed and saved us by His grace

He’s the subject of our song.

SEEK CHRIST
I encourage each of us to seek Christ. The great need of the unbeliever is Christ. The great need of the oldest believer is Christ. He is the one thing needful to every soul. (Luke 10:42)
Be sure you do not miss this. Seek CHRIST. Don’t seek religious feeling. Seek Christ. If you find Christ, He will touch your heart, you soul and your affection. Don’t seek comfort. Seek Christ. If you find Christ you will have comfort for your soul. Don’t seek assurance. Seek Christ. If you find Christ you will have assurance of salvation. Don’t seek righteousness. If you seek righteousness, I am afraid you will only find self-righteousness. Seek Christ. If you find Christ you will find Christ your righteousness. Don’t even seek a finished work of salvation. Seek Christ. Salvation does not come from trusting a finished work. Salvation is trusting Christ who finished the work. Seek Christ because if you have Christ you have all things because Christ is all.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31
Yes, this is the command of God for all men everywhere. However, we must not isolate this command from the very next verse. “And they spake unto him the word of the Lord”. In order for this poor suicidal soul to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, he had to know who He was and what He had done. Our call for men to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ may sound like the cry of all so-called Christianity. But the command to believe is not detached from declaring His glorious person and accomplished work, from the Word of the Lord. The difference is who, and what we are calling on men to believe. We call on men to believe that Jesus (the successful, sin-bearing, Savior of His people), Is the Christ (the anointed, promised, Messiah, intercessor, and Surety of God’s elect), the Son of God (the uncreated, eternal, Sovereign in all things). If the Spirit of God is pleased to give irresistible, saving faith, sinners will believe and be saved.
Pastor Greg Elmquist
LET US NOT BE DISCOURAGED
We preach the gospel of God’s sovereign, free grace in Christ Jesus the Lord; that salvation is in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, according to the word alone. For the most part, the message is rejected, but do not be discouraged, it has ever been so! Elijah thought he was the only one left who believed God; Isaiah wrote, ‘Who hath believed our report and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?’ When the Lord Himself preached in His hometown of Nazareth, the people marveled at His gracious words when He spoke of the blessings, but when He spoke of sovereign mercy, they tried to kill Him! The Apostle Paul was accused of being a pestilent fellow, a mover of sedition, the ringleader of a sect and was imprisoned for preaching the gospel. But remember, it is written: “The word of God is not bound’, ‘My word shall not fail’ and ‘This is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you’.
