CALL TO WORSHIP
Chief of sinners though I be, Jesus shed His blood for me
Died that I might live on high, lived that I might never die
As the branch is to the vine, I am His and He is mine.
O the heights of Jesus’ love! Higher than the heav’ns above
Deeper than the depths of sea, lasting as eternity
Love that found me – wondrous thought,
Found me when I sought Him not.
Jesus only can impart, balms to heal the smitten heart
Peace that flows from sin forgiv’n, joy that lifts the soul to heav’n
Faith and hope that walk with God, in the way that Enoch trod.
Chief of sinners though I be, Christ is All in All to me
All my wants to Him are known, all my sorrows are His own
Safe with Him from earthy strife, He sustains the hidden life.
O, my Savior, help afford, by Thy Spirit and Thy Word!
When my wayward heart would stray, keep me in Thy narrow way
Grace in time of need supply, while I live and when I die.

A “period” is a punctuation mark added at the end of a statement to indicate that no further discussion is possible or desirable. Let me give you some examples. “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy,” period. (Romans 9:16) “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly,” period. (Romans 5:6) “Salvation is of the Lord,” period. (Jonah 2:9) I love how God uses periods, don’t you?
Pastor David Eddmenson
Paul wrote in Ephesians chapter 2, verse 8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” In our day the word “faith” means many things to many people. To some, “faith” is the means of divine healing. To others “faith” is the means of financial prosperity and worldly success. But to the “redeemed of the Lord,” faith is God’s gift of believing Him. God speaks and faith hears, believes and obeys. Faith is how we know that God saves us by His grace in the Lord Jesus Christ.

WE KNOW
There are many things about God that we do not know. Nearly all of the time we do not know why God is doing what He is doing. But that does not mean that by God’s grace we do not know some things with absolute certainty. We know how God saves sinners by Christ alone. We know that salvation is by grace alone. We know that our good works and our morality do not contribute one iota to obtaining or keeping salvation. People who are taught of God know some things and those people always come to Christ in complete dependence on Him (John 6:45).
Here are some things every believer knows with absolute certainty.
“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” (Rom. 3:19)
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Rom. 8:28)
“We know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully” (I Tim. 1:8)
“We know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (I John 3:2)
“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” (I John 5:18)
“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” (I John 5:20)
Pastor
I Corinthians 1:21: For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Throughout the years I have met many men and women who objected to this. Their basis for objecting was that each claimed to have been saved by some means other than the preaching of the gospel of Christ and him crucified. But I have never met one person who God gave faith through the preaching of the gospel of Christ who objected that the preaching of Christ crucified is the means by which it pleased God to save.
