CALL TO WORSHIP
I WAS A WANDERING SHEEP
I was a wand’ring sheep, I did not love the fold.
I did not love my Shepherd’s voice, I would not be controlled.
I was a wayward child. I did not love my home.
I did not love my Father’s voice. I loved afar to roam.
The Shepherd sought His sheep, the Father sought His child:
They followed me o’er vale and hill, o’er deserts waste and wild.
They found me nigh to death, famished and faint and lone.
They bound me with the bands of love, they saved the wand’ring one.
Jesus my Shepherd is. ‘Twas He that loved my soul.
‘Twas He that washed me in His blood. ‘Twas He that made me whole
‘Twas He that sought the lost, that found the wand’ring sheep.
‘Twas He that brought me to the fold. ‘Tis He that still doth keep.
I was a wand’ring sheep. I would not be controlled.
But now I love my Shepherd’s voice. I love, I love the fold.
I was a wayward child. I once preferred to roam.
But now I love my Father’s voice. I love, I love His home.

WILL YOU ALSO GO AWAY?
In John chapter 6, the Lord Jesus clearly and unmistakably preached that salvation is all in Him. He declared that salvation depends upon His will not man’s will. He declared that if we would be saved, we must believe on Christ, but we cannot believe on Him unless the Lord gives us that faith in Christ. He declared that He is King over all and if we would be saved, we must bow to Him. Many who had been following the Lord quit following Him when they finally heard what the Lord had been saying. (John 6:66)
Then the Lord asked the twelve, “Will you also go away?” (John 6:67). The Lord is telling them that they are free to leave if they want. The Lord has no unwilling servants. Many do depart from the preaching of the gospel because as John tells us, “they were not of us” (I John 2:19).
Let the believer take comfort here. The Lord will never let His people depart from Him even though that is what our old man wants to do. He teaches His people who He is so that they keep coming to Christ (John 6:45). The Lord draws His people with bands of love so that they cannot leave Him (Hosea 11:4).
God’s has also given His people a new heart that refuses to leave Christ. Peter spoke for the other eleven when he said, “Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” (John 6:68-69).
Be careful not to miss this. Where God has given faith in the heart there is a genuine commitment to Christ and to the gospel of Christ that refuses to depart from Him.
Pastor
If all you are interested in is information, you will tire of the Gospel quickly. If you desire to know, worship and hear from the Savior Himself though, it is because you already know Him, by His grace, and you will never tire of that.

The Heart of God's Child
There is much presumption, pride, hypocrisy, deceit, delusion, formality, superstition, will-worship, and self-righteousness to be purged out of the heart of God's child. But all these things keep him low, mar his pride, crush his self-righteousness, cut the locks of his presumption, stain his self-conceit, stop his boasting, preserve him from despising others, make him take the lowest room, teach him to esteem others better than himself, drive him to earnest prayer, fit him as an object of mercy, break to pieces his free-will, and lay him low at the feet of the Redeemer, as one to be saved by sovereign grace alone!
J.C. Philpot
On a visit to France, Mr. Spurgeon met an American minister who said, “I have long wished to meet you, Mr. Spurgeon, and to ask you one question. Would you be good enough to give me the secret of your great success?” After a moment’s pause, Spurgeon replied, “My people pray for me.”

“A WORM, AND NO MAN” - Psalm 22:6
Hanging upon the cursed tree as our Substitute, our Savior cried, “I am a worm, and no man.” Shall we for whom he suffered and died esteem ourselves higher than he esteemed himself? Yet, we act more like snakes than worms. Strike at a snake and he will lift his angry head, hiss at you, and strike back. Strike at a worm, and what does he do? Nothing. The worm is a humble creature, without any inclination or ability to defend itself or attack another. It is totally dependent upon its Creator. Its only defense is to retreat and take refuge. May God give us that spirit. It is the spirit of Christ. Let us, when attacked, retreat to and take refuge in him. He alone is our Rock, our Salvation, and our Defense.
