CALL TO WORSHIP
Ascribe to God, ye sons of men,
Ascribe with one accord,
All praise and honor, might and strength
To Him the living Lord.
Give glory to His holy name,
And honor Him alone;
Give worship to His majesty,
And bow before His throne.
The Lord doth sit upon the floods,
Their fury to restrain;
He reigns above, both Lord and King,
And evermore shall reign.
The Lord shall give His people strength,
And bid their sorrows cease;
The Lord shall bless His chosen race
With everlasting peace.

We thank the Lord for another profitable week of Vacation Bible School with our young people. I also want to thank our teachers and volunteers for all of their hard work and dedication that enables our children to have a good week of learning and fun. None of that would be possible without you, and I thank God for you.
JESUS IS GOD
We know that Jesus of Nazareth is God because that is what the Word of God says. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6) The child born to Mary in Bethlehem is a real child who is also the everlasting Father and the mighty God. The Lord Jesus took the name of the eternal God as His name. “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am, ye shall die in your sins.”(John 8:24) I AM is the name of God that was revealed to Moses at the burning bush and the Lord Jesus says that is who He is: God.
This is not just a point of doctrine. The fact that Jesus is God is the assurance of salvation for God’s elect. If Jesus is God, then he is righteous and He has the power to make His people righteous. If Jesus is God, then He has the power to save His people from their sin. The only way Jesus can forgive sin is if He is God because only God can forgive sin since all sin is against Him.
I can only rest in an expectation of eternal life if Jesus of Nazareth is God who has the power, the righteousness, and the right to save me.

CHRIST OUR PROPHET, PRIEST, AND KING
The salvation of a sinner is so complex and difficult, that only God in His wisdom and might can accomplish it. Yet salvation is also as simple as knowing Christ and trusting Christ alone. If I trust Christ, I have everything I need to be saved from my sin.
Christ is everything in salvation and that is pictured in the three offices that were so important in Israel of old: the prophet, the priest and the king. All three of those offices are pictures of Christ.
Christ is THE Prophet of God who speaks to the hearts of God’s elect so that they believe on Christ. Fallen man is so dead in sin that the only way we can believe on Christ is if Christ Himself speaks to our hearts.
Christ is THE High Priest who offers the sacrifice that puts away the sin of His people. Christ THE High Priest doesn’t offer an animal sacrifice. He offers Himself as the sacrifice for sin. Fallen man is so sinful that it takes the blood of God Himself to atone for our sin.
Christ is THE King who rules over everything. Kings are to be obeyed by their subjects. When Christ the King speaks to our heart we willingly submit ourselves to Him and to His righteousness. Fallen man is so rebellious in our sin that it takes the power of God Himself to break us and make us submit to Him.
I hope you see this plainly now: if you have Christ, you have everything you need to be brought to God accepted by the Father.

“And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.” Mt. 1:21
The Lord Jesus came into this world to specifically save a people of God’s choosing. He lived for them before God’s holy law, establishing the righteousness in which they are robed. He bore their sins on Calvary’s tree, dying in their stead, satisfying the law for justice with His own precious blood. In time they shall be effectually called out of the spiritual darkness of sin and unbelief by the Holy Spirit, being made willing in the day of God’s power. They shall cast themselves upon the mercy of God in Christ and be kept by the power of God through faith until the end…that’s sovereign grace!
