Our young adult classes for ages 18-29 will be held this week from Monday through Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Our midweek service this week will be on Thursday when Marvin Stalnaker, pastor of Katy Baptist Church will be preaching for us.
TRUE REPENTANCE
Repentance is more than feeling sorry for our sin. Repentance is turning away from whatever we have been trusting in for salvation and turning to Christ to trust Him to be all of our salvation. True repentance is not turning from all of the evil things we have done. True repentance is to quit trusting in all those things we think were good deeds. True repentance is turning from our so-called righteousness and counting them as rags defiled with sin and iniquity and turning to Christ our righteousness.
Pastor
If salvation is by our religious and moral works then there is no need for the righteousness of Christ, the sacrifice of Christ, or God’s grace. If this is true we should quit preaching Christ and start preaching works. Does that show you how foolish salvation by our works is?

For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing (Acts 17:21).
Carnal man, like the Athenians and strangers, is not interested in continually hearing the message of old concerning man’s fall in Adam’s rebellion and his desperate need of redemption and salvation. Man, by nature, is not concerned to hear the glorious Gospel of Grace concerning the Father’s eternal pleasure to choose a people in Christ in electing grace…about Christ who redeemed God’s elect through the shedding of His own blood at Calvary, or how the Holy Spirit shall surely regenerate and preserve God’s elect, keeping them by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In other words…the carnal man is not interested in salvation by grace through faith in Christ, but is interested in only hearing that message that makes man to be the author and finisher of his faith. He wants to hear something new about himself that tickles his ears and challenges his intellect. But for the regenerate in Christ, there’s a continual yearning to be told one more time how God, for Christ’s sake, has had mercy on him.

Believers Need no Signs
“Wherefore, tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that BELIEVE NOT; but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them that BELIEVE” (1 Cor. 14:22).
The power of the apostles and other early preachers to speak supernaturally in other languages is NOT a sign for believers (who need no miracle, either to gain their attention, or to confirm their faith); but these gifts and miracles bore witness before unbelievers that these men were sent from God and preached a message from heaven (Heb. 2:3-4; Jn. 3:2).
Inspired preaching and teaching, which interprets the divine will and purpose of God in Christ, serves to edify believers, not unbelievers, who must first be regenerated and given ears to hear.
