Great Message! From the sermon details:
What are the warning signs of evil that we should spot in the church? Why are Christians so stubbornly reluctant to call evil what it is... EVIL.
Pastor Jeff, this is a great continuation to your "Wise as Serpents" series.
From the article: Imagine our two families are miles from land in a sinking boat. Suddenly, out of the mist, come two boats to save us. One is captained by an adulterer; the other is captained by a thief. Which boat will you get into? You say, “Neither one. I’m waiting for the evangelical boat which is captained by a devout Christian who will end abortion.” I say, “You’re kidding, right?” You reply, “Both these guys are reprobates and I’m not going to choose between two evils.”
The reason why the family boat is sinking, as it's trying to limp back to shore, is because the boats coming out of the mist are the two boats that have taken turns ramming us. These were the orders given to previous captains by the “for profit and power” owners of the boats. Knowing the danger we're in, will one or both of these captains disobey the orders? Character does matter. Each captain is hollering, “I'll save you!” Heard that before.
Kevin Swanson has an interesting broadcast about Republican appointed judges and Roe v. Wade, Obamacare, etc. Here's the SermonAudio link: http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=10171614483
The Abusive Side of Evil Is this part of the "Wise as Serpents" series Bro. Jeff teaches one to be aware that evil/abusive people lack empathy, are manipulative, conniving, and have double standards.
Bummer and Amen Too! Bummer because this is the conclusion to a fantastic series. (All man-made series come to an end.) But what an ending! Bro. Brian reminds us that our Treasure, our Rock, our Everything is God Himself. Amen, amen, amen! And I am rejoicing because God has put us in His "series" which goes on forever.
A Missing Point How remiss of me not to mention that some of the devil's kiddies are self-proclaimed Christians a.k.a. wool-wearing wolves. Beware, my brothers and sisters, of these vicious ones! They are bloodthirsty, and inflict the most damage on us. The devil, even though he hates humans, probably has a soft spot for these children.
Very, Very Good! The sermon details give a good summation of the message, so here it is:
"True Christians will almost always be lonely in this world. If you love God and love His Word, you are in an extreme minority. There are many Christians all over this world who have to travel miles and miles just to get to a true Bible honoring church. They are like Christians of old -- aliens, scattered throughout the world. What is comforting to the Christian, however, is to realize that Christ Himself experienced profound loneliness as a man and knows exactly how to sympathize with His people."
Thanks, Bro. Curtis, for this sermon. I don't think I'd really given any thought as to what it was like for the Lord being around the sinfully, totally stupid creatures called us.
That Broadway to Destruction In this continuation of the" Wise as Serpents" series Bro. Jeff gives us evidences of some "Christ-confessing" people, churches and organizations that are on the broadway to destruction. Thanks for reminding us, Bro. Jeff, that we are not suppose to turn a blind eye toward evil.
HOLDING THE HAND OF THE WICKED BECAUSE OF FEAR? There is a mantra that I continually hear, “We're not voting for a pastor.”
Do we professing Christians not understand that the evil one (Satan) has some children that say they are conservatives and some children that say they are liberals—not to mention that there are some that call themselves moderates, democrats, republicans, libertarians, green, and whatever else?
Are we compromising with one of his kids because we are afraid of what his other kid will do? Their daddy doesn't care who wins as long as his conservative/ liberal wicked scheme is in place.
Thanks, Bro. Sean, et al., for sharing the article and your inputs.
