I have uploaded five more pictures of the new hostel at the New Life Orphanage in Myanmar (Burma). We dedicated the building to God's glory in February 2006.
There has been a recent development that does not look good on the face of it. The local government has begun requiring that our students both register and attend the government schools. The schools are run by unbelievers, most of whom are Buddhist. The students have all agreed that they do not want the government unbelievers teaching them about God's creation. This is also the commitment of the NLO staff.
Please pray for wisdom for Rev. Moses Dawnga and the rest of the staff as they deal with these developments, and for God's glory to shine through as he keeps these children for himself.
There are fourteen new pictures uploaded in the Mission to Myanmar photo album today. These pictures all show the state of the construction of the new hostel as of February 2006. This hostel was the gift of many of God's people in this and other...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
Finally, I got around to uploading 17 more photos from my trip to Myanmar (Burma) last February. I was clearing old photos from my camera for my upcoming trip to Brazil and found that I had not yet transferred a lot of the pictures from the...[ abbreviated | read entire ]

I returned to Yangon yesterday evening about 7:00 PM local time. This was after a jeep ride from Kalemyo to Mandalay that would shake the fillings loose from any dentures! We had a number of bridges that were out along the way, so it was a good...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
Email from Dr. Bacon: Tuesday 2/14 Morning: I haven't slept for about 30 hours so this is likely to be a little loopy. Still, here is what has happened -- I'm safe and sound in Kalemyo [next town to Tahan] or at least I'm safe. We arrived about...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
Email from Dr. Bacon-Lord's Day morning It is "shirt sleeve" weather here [in Yangon]. Of course it will be a bit chillier up in Tahan, but I have the windbreaker jacket that I brought to take with me. I'm still trying to decide what to take and...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
The trip over here was thankfully uneventful. The "Passport Plus" was a really good idea. It was nice to have a first class lounge to wait in. They let me stay all night -- I thought they would make me leave after a couple of hours but they let me...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
I have not yet arrived in Yangon (Rangoon). I am basically "stuck" in Bangkok, Thailand waiting for a flight. My two previous layovers were not very long. I was just a few hours in LA and then a couple more in Taipei, Taiwan. But the Thai Air...[ abbreviated | read entire ]
