I've often wonder exactly how it is that homosexuality can be supported by those who also believe in evolution's survival of the fittest notion. No ability to reproduce itself is sufficient information to demonstrate no survival at all. What could be less "fittest" than that?

Chief Justice Roberts seems to be consistent on the above idea, anyway.
Roberts' statement is "legal doctrine" mumbo jumbo for "the precedence of previous questionable decisions is more important to follow than deciding a case on the basis of the Constitution." That's why one bad decision is often followed by many others. Even judges can be lazy, and lately Mr Roberts seems to be setting an example.

Remember when it all started, we were comparing the 'regular' flu with this. CDC gave an estimate of 50k deaths from that flu, and the year before it was even higher. It shows you the reporting is not as clear as news media wants to give you. Also, have you noticed the number of cases cited by each state does not subtract any cases from April or May? Don't you think by now, June 29, all those cases have resolved, either recovered or died? Shouldn't they subtract them from today's number?
---
The science behind this is not science but fear-based religion. One of its doctrines is Once a case, Always a case. So those who never had symptoms, or are recovered, or who recovered at home, are still among the case count. It is easier to extract sacrifice from the fearful, and larger case counts do seem scarier, though they shouldn't be.

Correction. *Civilized* government is necessary to the existence of a civilized society.

Read some of the phrases in the article: “Estimates.” “Might be.” “Could be.” “Suggested.” “Might have been.” This sounds to me like a typical “scientific” article on some aspect of evolution, filled with guesstimates, speculation, and pure fantasy. Why don’t the “scientists” and quacks just admit that they don’t have a clue? Oh, that would jeopardize their god status, wouldn’t it?
Let's hope this time they are guessing right.

One can only hope the heading of this article is true. The media would portray it as something awful, (look how contagious!!) But it's actually very good, for it would mean an instant reduction in the death rate by a factor of 10. 10 times the cases, but same number of deaths. Pick a number. 1.0%. becomes 0.1% How is that not a good thing, especially in terms of lockdowns, gubernatorial overreaction, etc.? It becomes much harder to justify wrecking the country, doesn't it?

Considering the worsening problems with covid-19, probably more serious actions will be taken?

Spike indeed. Any "spike" will be primarily among the younger this time. The elderly were knocked off earlier, meaning it will be less of an issue than before. But we can assume the experts will respond in a familiar way, as their power, fame, and glory depend on it. Besides, Biden wants to avoid debating Trump for obvious reasons, and staying safe in his basement is one way to do that.

We shall see, John. I suspect that emphasis will be applied to the number of cases, not the death rate. Most of those who were going to die have already died, leaving most of the new cases among those who won't, unfortunately for the fearmongers. Regrets for my use of the term lunatic, I regret it, as that indeed would pull response while actual data and incident are passed by, as the saying goes. That's ok, I get it. We in NYS have never come out from under the controls in any significant way. I couldn't be of any comfort for my daughter when her son, my grandson, died. But hey we were kept safely apart, and just being alive is more important than living, right?

Florida? It's up to the people of Florida to decide how safe they should be. If I were governor I would ask them, abide, and deal with it. The experts continually change what they say, so it might be better to ignore them. Looking to fallen creatures to save us hasn't become the way, has it?

Hey bro, what do you think of a rule that due to Covid, you can go fishing in a boat if it has no motor, but you can't if it does?

According to the CDC, not me, influenza in the 2017-18 season was responsible for some 80000 deaths in the US. 45 million affected, 21million required medical visits, 900000 hospitalized. No shortage of beds, no lockdown in spite of the contagious nature. No conspiracy theory is necessary to note the difference in handling. For some reason the world didn't end. Fear had not yet become our master.

Btw, there are two nurses in the same prayer group my wife belongs to. One of them who was working in a nursing home until she recently quit, said yes they were required to put patients being returned from hospital *into the Covid wing of the nursing home* regardless of why they were sent to the hospital, (example for dialysis). Further, they were not allowed to test them for Covid before doing so. Now either the governor and nys public health authority who came up with this wanted the old ones to die, thus saving the State a lot of money, or they are blooming idiots. Pick your choice. As for the other nurse, she merely noted that an oral surgery cost was charged as Covid 19. It seems that somehow there is more money in it via handling it that way.

The issue isn't that people don't die from Covid 19. Some do. The issue is the lunatic response.

Excuse my ignorance. Does that mean 10 times as many people are dying from it too? Or does that mean it’s not as bad as they thought?
What it would mean is the death *rate* is much less than was thought. Making the disease much less dangerous in terms of the likelihood of it causing death to any one person. We heard a lot of talk about contagiousness, not so much about actual odds of dying from it.

Ah yes, an expert. You sure do enjoy all the nonsense, Jim. Remember, CDC says runny nose could be Covid. Next time you pull a Kleenex, be aware. Stay safe, Jim.

Lady bug , you’re spot on. And good to see your post. Federal judge called out Di Blasio and Cuomo on their hypocrisy. Funny, I doubt that will be reported on the nightly news. Much less when the vaunted Governor Cuomo speaks with more wisdom than Soloman. “ God didn’t do that, we did that “
Being called out on it doesn't amount to much if nothing is done about it. They got a finger wagging, with instruction to not do that. Kind of like if you steal something, and the judge says "Now stop that." Oh well, it's better than nothing I suppose.

Bill Gates will be happy to hear it. Btw, you have strange stats in Nebraska. 42.71% of deaths due to Covid 19 were among people ages 0-85+. That means 57.29% were some other age. I'm having problems figuring out what that is. But then, most all the data that has been presented on this issue seems designer styled to sell a product. Did you know runny nose or congestion has been added as a symptom, according to the CDC? I believe there are 11 now. We've come a long way from fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath. Whatever it takes to get the case numbers up, I guess.

Still have to wonder why the rules aren't such that if you are afraid, stay home, if not, don't. Isn't that fair? Is life itself not risky? Who gave permission to faceless mindless authority to decide how safe one should be? But then arbitrary rules are made by rule makers
and enforced by rule enforcers, that the rules may be justified. Illness going around? How about quarantine the healthy? How about decide which group meetings are ok, and which are not? How about dictate what you may do at the meetings? Hey, these leeches need the work, and rulemaking/enforcing is essential, according to themselves. Leeches don't like salt on them, and release their grip when it is applied. Is it time for the church to be salt? Or has it been decided the leech-gates shall prevail over the church?

An expert opinion no doubt. Here I thought the rules were for slowing the spread, not preventing it from recurring. But what do I know, the experts have the right to change their minds. The experts said heat and humidity were bad for the virus, because it likes cool and dry, and 1.5 minutes in the warm sun could kill it. Now it is said there is an uptick in the hot humid south. The experts dance so well, it must be exhausting for them. What will the program require next?

I see they weren't happy with the flag even before the present problems popped up
You think coming after the battle flag will pacify the revisionist anti-revolutionaries? It's just another prop in the play. The American flag is on their radar as well. Only the silly think any of this has much to do with racism. Black folk are being used as tools in a larger war. If it goes the way the racist, violent protesters wish, black people will be put back on the plantation after their usefulness to the Marxist cause is done. Sure wish more people had played connect the dots when they were kids.

A Baptist wuss is still a wuss. So naive to think mob mentality will ever be pacified. And using the name of Jesus to do it. It's not even the confederate flag, but who cares when feelings supercede truth?
