The True Meaning of Giving Account to God Thank you to Dr. Pollock for such a thorough, sound, and articulate treatment of Romans 14:12: "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God." Confusion on the meaning of this verse abounds in many so-called Reformed churches, whose pastors contort it to support repentance-based (aka works-based) salvation in which professing believers present their repentance to Christ on judgement day and, as one person told me, "Cry out to God and He MIGHT have mercy on you." Praise God that, as Dr. Pollock stated in this morning's Bible class lesson, "... a believer who first put their trust in the Lord upon the ground of sacrifice is clearly shown to be justified and that's unchangeable." God accepts me because He accepts Christ's sacrifice--NOT because He accepts my (wholly inadequate) repentance. Christ alone is the foundation of my salvation; I plead Christ, not my repentance.

Important teaching. Good and very important teaching. failing to sanctify the Sabbath is the way to spiritual downgrade, in personal life, in family life, in church life. By the grace of God, I planned to start tomorrow a series on the sanctification of the Lord's Day, a study prepared in weeks of study.
Man of prayer. Elijah prayed in secret, based on the Word of God, until he received the assurance that the Lord heard his prayers and until God sent him with that message unto Ahab. Blessed is the man who knows to cultivate secret prayer before the Lord!
Applying the truth. Listening to this sermon I thought that the children of God believe the Bible when it says that the unsaved live in lies and falsehood. But still, they hope that unsaved politicians, unsaved people working in mass-media will spoke the truth. We must apply the Word in these areas as well and not be naive...
Great truths. I want to be one of these men, standing for all the Lord stands for. Oh, for knowing more and more of God and standing with Him and for Him in such a wicked generation!
Great comfort. What a comfort to know that I have a King in 2021! That my days and my destiny are not in my hands, or in other people's hands, but that my Lord and my Savior guides me every day where He wants!
