Sermon:
Elijah taken into heaven
Dr. Stephen Pollock

comment
“ Continuing God's work. ”
Very good the connection between the ministry of Elijah and that of Elisha, who continued his work. I liked the parallel with the FPC. May God give to the Elijahs of FPC young Elishas, who will continue the work in the same spirit and dedication to the Lord! At the same time, it is a message about the reality of heaven and the need to live in the light of the reality of heaven.

Elijah's letter

“ Faithful God. ”
Very useful the work of interpretation regarding the circumstances of Elijah's letter. God was judging sin and sinner, but He was faithful to preserve His promise made unto David regarding the Messiah. At the same time, a message warning against bad examples.

Sermon:
Bringer of judgment - again!
Dr. Stephen Pollock

“ Great judgment. ”
A God who hates idolatry, a God who protects His reputation, a God who carries out His warning. It is interesting that after verse 1 (the rebellion of Moab), normally the text should fellow about the king of Israel raising with his army to defend the land, because he was put by God to protect the people. But he falls and is sick - so it is an unusual following of the text, another judgment of the king and the country. The king cannot defend the country which is under God's judgment.

“ be watchful ”
2 Corinthians 11 verse 14-15: And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an ANGEL OF LIGHT. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the MINISTERS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS; whose end shall be according to their works. Acts 7 verse 48-49: Howbeit the most High dwelleth NOT in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, 49 HEAVEN is my THRONE, and EARTH is my FOOTSTOOL: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? WOH unto the shepherds that lead my sheep astray, says the Lord. How about where it says, that theses shepherds say, "No harm will come to us". In Christ be careful people. For MANY false prophets are entered into the world

“ Trials and God's miracles. ”
Amessage about the place of trials in the lives of believers, of God's sovereign and powerful intervention, who can make miracles. He can raise dead people and spiritually dead people. I differ with the preacher's interpretation in the fact that I believe only in verse 24 there is the conversion of this women. Before she knew about God and believed that Elijah is His prophet, but not trusted with submission to God. It was fine to listen the song at the end.

“ Great Sermon! ”
How important it is to," be seperate". I believe it is good to acurately use the term "sinner" when speaking of the unbeliever and not for all (redeemed). Biblically, even though the redeemed do fall short (sins),...the sinner sins w/out restraint, then attempts to justify.(IJohn 1)

Dr. Stephen Pollock

“ Great wisdom of God. ”
The people rejected God's Word, so God send Hs blessing to others. God tests Elijah - he is sent in the country of his enemy, Jezabel! But God keeps him there in safety. God's plan and wisdom is greater then we can understand. We must trust in Him and we must obey His will.

“ Great judgment. ”
In a time of judgment, God removes His Word from the nation. God, who is the Lord of nature, knows how to protect His people even through miraculous means. We must be faithful and to trust in Him for all!

“ Great man of God. ”
In a time of apostasy God raises a man after His heart. A man raised in a godly family, a man who knows God and the Scriptures, a man of prayer, a man sent to denounce sin.

“ Great darkness. ”
Dark times of spiritual declension, but God's children are persevering to the end. And God is not absent nor silent, but He warns and speaks against sin. In our dark times, God is our hope of persevering on the right way.

Deliverer of justice (Pt 2)
Dr. Stephen Pollock

“ Sin and judgment. ”
A message about God's wrath and judgment against sin and about God's servant who courageously and faithfully rebukes the sinner. We can escape the wrath of God only if our sins are covered with Christ's blood.

We are saved by the blood of Christ. The initiative in salvation was God's, not ours, and God prepared an offering for sin and a High Priest.

“ Preaching the cross. ”
This is not a detailed account of Latimer's life, but his biography is a motive for launching to present the biblical doctrine of salvation through the cross of Christ. The cross was the subject of Latimer's preaching also.

“ Great Sermon! ”
A very gracious yet powerful presentation of credo-baptist theology. Dr. Allison handles the subject with consideration and love for those who disagree, but never veers from the passionate and exegetical treatment of this subject. Well worth listening to with an open Bible and a prayerful heart.

“ always off track! ”
Camping was NEVER a sound Biblical teacher. His views were always off track. 25 years ago his church threw him out for teaching heresy, in 1988. Funny how that year coincides with the year he says that the "church age" ended. He has always been obsessed with dates and numbers and secret things no one else knows. At this point, I do believe it's taken him into dementia. Early on, however, it was a willful determination to follow vain knowledge and private interpretations by his pride. It is like unto Eve, as the serpent deceived her by telling her that her eyes would be opened and she would be like God, knowing (good and evil). "WE CAN KNOW". I feel horrible for his followers and the despondency and emptiness that will follow such foolishness.
