“ Glory to our Soveriegn God ” The best biblical explanation I have heard of the salvation of man and how our Lord accomplishes His will. All those who are truly saved will love this message, those who aren't will hate it.
“ Great Sermon! ” An excellent explanation of God's sovereignty and man's responsibility. Anyone who listens can only come away with the absolute truth of God's word. If they refute this message, they are denying God's word.
“ Whole Council of God ” Thank God for L. R. Shelton, Sr. and
his ministry. He did preach the
whole council and did not stay on just
one subject no matter how precious it
might be. My pastor, Clinton Russell
Ooten Sr. preaches the same way; he
preaches a sovereign God with electing
grace and at the same time preaches
man's responsibility in behaving like
blood bought Christians. It is a
blessing beyond words to have any man
of God who preaches the bible verse
by verse. Staying on one subject all
the time cannot lead to spiritual growth. Sin must be preached on also.
Thank God for Brother Shelton and his ministry that lives on.
“ Great Sermon! ” Outstanding sermon! Brother Shelton
proved the truth of sovereign grace
by rightly dividing the Word. There
is no such thing as free will regarding
salvation. Thank God for the POWER
spoke of in this sermon and how HE
saved me when I was dead in sins and
trespasses and HE continues in my live
daily. Thank God for GRACE.
“ Divine Call ” Excellent sermon! Thank God for His
Effectual Call. Like Brother Shelton,
I too remember the day of my Call and
I was riding in an automobile also.
Being a church member for many years,
on this particular day the truth of
salvation was revealed to me by my
God the Holy Spirit. How precious to
hear the testimonies of others. Even
though Brother Shelton is in Heaven,
his past sermons will bless those called of God.
“ Salvation is of the Lord ” This pastor taught the absolute truth
from God's word. His sermons will be
a blessing to all who believe in God's
sovereign Grace. Thank God for him and
his ministry while on this earth.
“ Powerful! ” What a powerful message concerning the truths of the Bible and the different trains of thought in current religious circles. A message that has stood the test of time-- nearly 50 years after its recording, the issue remains such an important teaching area for God's people. I imagine this issue has been a subject of debate since time began. Pastor Shelton did a masterful job proclaiming the truth of the Bible.
“ Great Sermon! ” Wonderful truths in this message. How
truthful that there is not much evidence of real salvation in most
professing Christians. All I hear is
what they have done or have to do.
This is especially sad when so-called
men and women of grace still trust in
themselves. Thank God for His
Sovereign Grace and the Faith that
He and He alone gives us.
“ Great Sermon! ” Thank God for men past and present
who preach a Sovereign God and the
precious doctrine of election. Why
would anyone think that God's truth
would kill a church??? It seems to
me that most so called Grace churches
know nothing of God's Grace that was
given from the foundation of the
world. Oh how I thank God for His
mercy and that I came to realize that
I am nothing and without Him and His
Grace I would be hopelessly lost.
Thank God for this pastor and the
blessing his words gives us that were
preached while he lived. How wonderful heaven will be when the
Lord introduces all His children to
each other. We have no idea of how
soon this will happen when we get there; however, we do know that we will have all eternity to meet all the men and women of God. I look forward
to the day when I see my Lord.
“ Must Hear Sermon ” Some Baptist may NOT enjoy this Sermon especially those supposing the Strait Gate may be innately discovered. Christians will love this Sermon and Feast on every word. Men like L.R. Shelton are now in Heaven and we are down here in a lot of Trouble with a Nation full of "Works for Salvation Preaching-Preachers.
“ A Minister who knows the Truth! ” Excellent! As usual the best sermons are not from the overly polished modern seminary trained preachers we have today.
“ A Heart's Cry for the Christian Family! ” Heart-gripping reminder of the importance of home and family. In all our busyness, and meeting here and there, we should not forget first to be still before God and hear His word, and second to minister a great deal of time to our family.
“ Oh, the Power of Satan's Imitation Ministry! ” How we do need messages like this one by Pastor Shelton, warning sinners of the prevailing danger of being deceived. Many of today's preachers need to heed this word of warning. Hear this message and recommend it to your pastor. God bless all who hear and are stirred by this message, as it has stirred me! W. Fulton
“ Great Sermon! ” Here the truth is preached concerning God's grace. There is no such thing as "common" or "general" grace, for grace is the SAVING attribute of God; and all who are subjects of grace are the precious elect of God. None of them can ever be lost. “ Great Sermon! ” No salvation for any sinner apart from God's effectual call. HE calls all of the elect in such a way that none can finally and fatally resist that call. God is SOVEREIGN in the salvation of a sinner.
“ A True Gospel Witness! ” Here is a message that presents the Gospel invitation in its true light -- the Gospel is GOOD NEWS TO A GUILTY, THIRSTY SINNER! Many are trying to give the Gospel's "good news" to sinners who have never seen their need, who are not thirsty after Christ. But in God's Word we don't find anyone offering Christ to a sinner who has not first been awakened to his lost, helpless condition and absolute need of God's grace and mercy in Christ.

“ Great Sermon! ” Outstanding sermon! If this preacher
saw all these things in 1967, what
would he think today? Christians
and true pastors should listen to this
sermon and gain strength for their
stand for the Lord in our present day.
Thank God that we have a few men left
today who still preach and warn from
the Word of God. Our pastor, Clinton
R. Ooten Sr is one of them and how
thankful we are for him.
“ Great Sermon! ” I had to double check the May, 1968 date, because this sermon is about today's TV preachers, who have almost replaced historical Christianity with this false faith. The message is prophetic and insightful.
“ How True! ” Despite the folly of those "funny mentalists" who attack the great doctrines of grace, building their "straw men" and knocking them down again, we who believe and love these truths know that it is a lie to assert that Calvinism blunts evangelism. Rightly viewed Calvinism (Pauline Doctrine) informs our evangelism and spurs us on to see God's sheep brought in! Praise God for a Savior Who really saves, and an Atonement which really atones.
