Great Sermon! I get a cold like you do and I thought I was the only one. Great to know others are like me. Great sermon, we need more of this. Great positive sermon, as their are a lot of sermons saying doom doom, which is part of salvation I agree, but lets have the other side too. A balance of Love Joy Peace Longsuffering etc as well as realizing what sin is and it's punishment. Count it all JOY, Jesus said, lets do that often. Great lets have lots more JOY.
Pink Bio Corrections In this lesson I mentioned that when Pink came to the United States (from Nottingham England) I mentioned the date 1919, but corrected it later to 1910; I said that Caspar Hodge was at Princeton Seminary but he actually died the year before Spurgeon, 1891. Also as to Pink and the general call of the gospel, his views became more scriptural later in his ministry. The B of T version of his work Sovereignty of God sought to show his later view. But Dr. John Belcher is not convinced that these changes should have been made to Pink's work. I regret not mentioning Pink's conversion from Theosophy to Christianity. Also I meant to mention that in his book on the Holy Spirit, he did not teach regeneration and the new birth as synonymous terms for some reason. But I don't think he consistently taught this. TMS
A Much Needed Sermon for Today's Church! May God grant to us truly Spirit-filled churches who love the Lord Jesus and seek to live lives marked by a dependence on Him and glad-hearted obedience to His will!
Romans 1:16- "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes"
About this Narration and Recording Over a year ago I had an edifying conversation with Albert N Martin in which we talked about narrating books - which I have been doing since Dec. 1985. He has aspirations to narrate in his free time after retiring this summer, and expressed a desire to read the excellent exposition of Psalm 119, by Charles Bridges. I did not want to duplicate a work he had chosen, and for my own edification chose The Treasury of David on Psalm 119. While recording these cassettes, two things affected the outcome. (1) the belt on the cassette deck stretched, which slows down the recording. This is remediable, as long as the same speed deck is used to make the audio file on the computer. (2)I am testing a microphone pre-amp device called a Tube MP, from A.R.T. The trade-off is the better vocal quality with a slight hum, in the background. This is only on downloads 3 and 4 and the end of 2. My apologies if this has anyway caused difficulty to the listeners. - TMS
Great Sermon! This is a contemporary sermon, with the various outlooks on what a good national leader should be, and the influence it has on governing and influencing for the Mormon religion. I still think like two of the authorities mentioned in the sermon, that a Mormon in the White House would lend credence to the religion and thus be in the long run bad for our country in ways not directly dealing with a presidency, but with an example living in our nation's highest office. It does matter, and does affect our country. Wolves in sheeps' clothing. We should be wise. Romney was an elder, and he is no dummy. He knows what the Satanic teachings of the Mormon religion are, and do we really need him in the White House ? I believe God can provide much better.
New Narrations As we at Holland RBC upgrade a number of sermons and narrations to HI FI, I have decided just to re-narrate them. This is the third time I have narrated this sermon for Sermon Audio, this narration is only two weeks old. The first time I narrated this sermon was December of 1985 for Chapel Library, then in Venice, FL.
About this Treatise Owen requires some attention to detail to understand but is well worth it.
Sometime I tend to narrate some books too fast. I slowed this narration down using the special effects feature of Cool Edit pro so that the narration is now 88% of the original speed. Owen speaks of how the Holy Spirit works to apply the gifts of the Spirit. His analysis of the Spirit's work upon some who are never regenerated but still wrought upon is very interesting and few
authors ever touch this subject in our day. The Puritans called this the "Common Influences of the Spirit" and distinguished it from the Saving Influences of the Holy Spirit.
Encouraging. Encouraging testimony! I thank the Lord for His work in you and with you! After listening to the testimony, I presented it to our Bible study group meeting.
Too horrible to imagine! The most chilling narration that I have ever heard. Words fail me in how much I would encourage anyone who is delaying repentance to listen to this sermon! Attend to your soul while there is time!!!
Most Terrifying Next month marks my 22nd anniversary narrating, and yet few things I have read are as frightening as this portion of a book. The testimonies are puzzling as well as frightening because in most cases those who have been given up of the Spirit to final obduracy are hardened and not frightened. See A H Strong Syst. Theol. p. 651... But there are those cases that appear to be like Judas, who knew they were condemned before the entered into eternity. Whether they are correct in assessing their own case is not sure. The least that can be said is that it is an awful thing to depart from God. Prob. 29:1
About this narration The last thirty minutes of this download is a reading from Edwards' famed treatise, The Freedom of the Will where Edwards treats the subject of command and obligation to obedience consistent with moral inability to obey. He answers the false charge that Calvinists believe that God does not save those who are "willing" to be saved if they are not elect by showing that natural man has no such inclination before regeneration. He only is willing not to be damned, he has no real desire that Christ would rule over him.
Great Sermon! This sermon will make you tremble. It shows man's vile nature by contrasting it to God's true righteous and infinitely holy essence and character.
A Classic Puritan Work For Defeating The Devil! Great choice for reading Tom.
There is much spiritual meat here.
A similar classic Puritan work, free in MP3 format on sermonaudio, is Thomas Brooks' _Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices_ at http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=2230615045
An Important Edward's Message For Our Day! Especially in light of the multitude of trifles and vanities that Satan has at his disposal with which to waste the time of both believers and unbelievers in our day. "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil"
(Ephesians 5:15-16).
Great Sermon! Kevin: Thanks for adding this series. This was before I came to the R B Church of Holland so I wanted to hear some of these, especially his exposition or Romans 7:14-25. Dave D: Thanks for all the hard work to convert the old cassettes to .mp3 so we can have them.
Glad to see you got a handle on using Adobe Audition.
To think in the old days I used to pay 2.00 to 5.00 bucks a tape to listen to sermons and then after hearing them once or twice, they just take up place in storage.
Now I can spend that money on new books!
GET THIS MESSAGE OUT WOW! What a window on HELL. This message is by far the most revealing on Hell I have ever come across. It is possible to actually get a glimpse of the hopelessness of the LOST. What a message to encourage outreach and to make our calling and election sure. I'm going to share this with as many people as possible, both to the LOST and to those who are SAVED but lethargic regarding reaching the LOST. It shook me to the core!
Great Sermon! Hi, this sermon by Mark was great. Anyone who wants to live in Joy and who wants to have a good start, listen to this message and truly, willingly live by it and have it in your heart and it will be well with you through Christ, Amen for this..
A Blistering, but greatly needed sermon! I truely enjoyed your newest message "Examine Your Heart." My heart went under the microscope of God's word. There were things there that had to be dealt with, empty husks of eye pleasing piety that must be threshed. Thanks, Pastor Chanski!
