“ Great lessons. ” A life with suffering and persecution is really from God for a Christian, because the world hates us because hates Christ. Excellent lesson in suffering, persecution and how to respond to it.
“ Great woman of God. ” A great woman of God, who served God with passion for souls, with the money God gave her. I recommend another audio message about this subject: George Curry - "Selina Huntingdon". I listened today both of them and I was enriched.
“ Lessons from Calvin. ” Five important lessons from the life of Calvin (4 from the story of his conversion); difference between Reformed worship and medieval Catholic worship; and some things about Samuel Davies and Horatius Bonar.
“ Life and work of Nettleton. ” This message continues the presentation of the life and ministry of Nettleton, began last message. His view of revival, preaching and evangelism, in opposition with that of Finney. Nettleton understood that conversion of souls is the work of God, not of the manipulations of a preacher.
“ Affirming the Trinity. ” Survey of some Trinitarian verses in the New Testament. Affirmation of the doctrine of Trinity, with special reference to Jehovah's Witnesses' denial of this doctrine.
“ Searching sermon! ” An excellent application of these heart searching words of Isaiah to believers and unbelievers. If only we really recognised our true state of separation from our God what an effect it would have on us all!
“ Great Sermon! ” I first heard this sermon when I was only 7 years old and not interested. Know 20 years later what a blessing it is to listen to my dear pastor. How convicting a sermon! Pastor Payne expounds that if we are truly following Christ we must be found daily pleasing God, praying to Him, reading His word. We must persevere to the end!
“ A life on fire for God. ” I listened this year for the second time this message, after listening to it last year. An account of McCheyne's visit to Palestine, of his illnesses, of the revival in Dundee.
“ Great man of God. ” A short history of the Reformed Church in Scotland, followed by the story of McCheyne, his conversion, first pastorate and the work Glasgow, before the revival in his church. Excellent incentive his habit to make house to house visits for talking with people about Christ!
“ Faithful ministry. ” Work of Bonar in the slums of Glasgow, evangelism, relationship with Moody. With presentation of Bonar's attitude toward the death of his son and of his wife, from his journals.
“ Great life. ” Excellent account of Bonar's conversion, influences suffered (especially accent on the work of Edward Irving) and on the work as a pastor in the village of Collace.
“ Good Bible study. ” It is not a sermon, it's more an interactive Bible study. Interesting introductory lesson, even if the arguments against Paul's authorship of Hebrews are not decisive, as I think. Very easy to follow.
“ Controversies of Spurgeon. ” Message about the four controversies in the ministry of Spurgeon. Good message. Only I wished he should speak more of the time about The Down Grade controversy.
“ Good information. ” I listened to both lectures, part 1 and part 2. Good information. I heard for the first time about Phoebe Palmer. But on the second message, in great measure, Michael Haykin repeats what he said in the first.
“ Good lecture. ” I like very much studying the life of Calvin. In this lecture I appreciated especially the stress put on Calvin's passion for God, His glory and for His church.
