What a Blessing!!! A must hear sermon. Thank God for Dr.
Custer; his sermons are always a real
blessing and encouragement to our
hearts.
When he tells his own life's story
and how he read the bible as a child
is a blessing beyond words; God surely
had a plan for him.
A must hear! What an encouragment. It's easy to fall into the rut of comfort, but we need to take that step and obey God's will. Thank you Dr. Bob!
So-so It’s not that I disagree per se. Yes we do work as onto Christ and not for the boss as such. Nevertheless, as a Christian we ought to view what we do and the time we spend doing it. We should consider the madness driving people to work themselves into a stupor. Work has become the god of many and I must say, for me to excel at my job I will have to sacrifice much of my personal life to achieve that. My job is in the information technology, as a systems analyst and let me tell you, it’s no joke staying abreast of technology.
Sometimes I wish some pastors could have a real job. When I say real job, I don’t want to demeaning, for I know nothing of Mr. Harding’s personal life, but I have met many a lazy scoundrel Pastor who has time for golf, meeting with folks over the tea cup and just taking life easy. Then, as if imbued from up high, they assume to preach to us on work!
I agree with Mr. Harding, it is important to work and do whatever we do to God’s glory. But what he did not address, is with whom we yoke ourselves while at work and to what ultimate purpose? Whose time do we use and what amount of time do employers demand from us nowadays. Where and when do we draw the line and say that you are now demanding too much work for that honest day’s pay?
Much Needed Sermon! Like most people, I have a job that I do not like and that I do because it pays the bills. This sermon gave me a new perspective on work, particularly how God views work. The main thrust of this sermon is that God approves of honest work done well. If you are unmotivated to work, don't like your job or are maybe just plain lazy... This is a sermon for you!
Great Sermon! Dr. Jones,
Thank you for having the courage to share the truth about this sin from God's Word. The good news is that God can forgive sin!
What Does He Want Me To Do? Be available! Be adaptable! Be acceptable!
God wants to use you for great things but it's not always according to what you want. You might be thinking A while God says, "Nope, you're gonna do Z!" So don't believe for a second that just because you're good at one thing and you spent years training for something else, that that's what He will lead you to do in order to help further His kingdom.
Sometimes you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right... so be available! Be adaptable! Be acceptable!
Great Sermon! What a blessing! When ever I get upset or lose perspective or spiritual interest, I listen to this particular sermon, and I'm totally "renewed in my mind" about the things of Christ, and it puts me back on track. What a blessing to have this kind of thing "available on demand", like a personal spiritual trainer!
Great Sermon! I have recently discovered the teacings by Dr. Stephen Jones and it has really made the scripture sripture so sweet for me and the Lord SO glorious. MAN that make the word so real are rare. Stephen Jones is one of them
Great Sermon! Hi, this message is great and true which we ought to live by....I konw I'll be thinking past being in love when i get married. Thank you very much for this....God bless, for his word and you sharing it..
Great Sermon! Brother Jones spoke with Biblical truth from the scriptures what God says on the matter and with Christ-like compassion to those who would oppose. His message also reminders us that there are no surprises with God and there is hope for the homosexual to be made free by Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you Brother Jones.
Interesting Sermon I was quite interested in what Dr. Berg had to say, and I could definitely relate. However, it wasn't clear to me whether he meant "you either have it or you don't", or if he allowed for varying degrees. The Puritans, whom he quoted from, also speak frequently and familiarly of discouragement: even times of near-despair when they were only kept from worse by the candle of hope always left burning in true believers. Willem Teellinck has quite a lengthy and helpful section on that in "The Path of True Godliness", even explaining how God uses such disconsolacy for our good.
The Bible, too, is full of this, especially in the Psalms. Often we have supernatural comfort, joy and confidence, but many times we pray in the words of Ps. 88, or others: and "long", "mourn", "weep", or cry out, "how long, Lord? Return!" And in the Song of Songs: "I searched for my Beloved, but I could not find Him," while at other times we shout, "I am my Beloved's and He is mine!" At any rate, those glimpses we get encourage us and give us a foretaste of what the perfect, joyful communion in Heaven will be like! I liked his point that we must pray that we will "abound more and more" (and indeed, we will be exceedingly motivated to do so if we have tasted the sweetness of such assurance)!
Straightforward Simplicity=1 Powerful Msg This message struck a chord in my Heart to the degree that I stopped what I was doing (house cleaning while I listened) and determined that I should pray right then and there instead of waiting til the end of the day, or any other special time set aside for prayer. That was about 10 mns into the sermon. Prayer is simultaneously one of easiest as well as one of the hardest things, and as well as again one of the most important things in life that we ever apire to do. Billy Martin's Sermon expounds on this wtih a powerful simplicity that confirms you chose the right sermon to listen to for your spiritual need/growth at that moment. This is one I'll embed into my own website.
Great Sermon! It is so great to be able to be in WV and still be able to hear the great teachings of Pastor Mark Minnick. When I was a student at BJ in 89/90 I was blessed to be able to attend Mount Calvary Baptist on Wednesday nights and sit under his teaching. I took many notes in the margin of my Bible, that I still refer back to. Pastor Minnick has a way of painting a very clear picture of scripture. The Lord has greatly blessed Pastor Minnick with the tremendous ability to make the most difficult scripture crystal clear. Thank you sermonaudio for your great website!
Excellent!! Such an outstanding, truthful sermon with so few downloads!! The truths
taught in this sermon regarding Jesus
are more apparent today than fifty years ago. Hardly anyone wants this
Jesus!! Of course as Dr. Jones taught,
this is man's nature. Only God can
open our eyes to the true Jesus Christ.
I am so thankful that He opened my eyes.
Old School Christianity I listen to Dr. Jones and realize his prophecy has now been fulfilled. We reject Jesus and accept all substitutes in His place. Who could bear this type of Preaching today? I thank Bob Jones University for providing this Sermon from fifty years ago - I needed these words of instruction and encouragement so badly today.
Great Sermon! Thank You Pastor for your faithfulness to God in delivering the right message to the saints.Tragedy comes in many forms.May we all run to Jesus as our only refuge in times of trouble.God bless you!
Great Sermon! thank you for this message.Holiness is a part of our walk that is not being taught enough today.I see now how the world needs to see Jesus in me and not me so much. Less of me and more of him Amen!
