Although concerning a different denomination, I am sure that the sermon below would greatly benefit and bless the congregation seeking prayerfully a new minister as they bid a sad farewell to their own greatly beloved minister- yet also a great encouragement to Rev Murray himself. It deals with a calling to America and then 17 years later how the Lord made His will clear to the church and the elders in a wonderful way of a calling back home to a particular church. I hope it would prove of interest in the Lord's Sovereign providence.
Testimony on Wed. Evening: Knowing the Will of God » 2/9/2000 (WED) » Revelation 1
A shocking message that will stun certain hearers This is so shocking and biblical I ask you to hear it and then attempt to defend watching movies! Remember your TV is now also the cinema/theatre in the home. This is a brave sermon in days when even some of the reformed camp are more prone to be avid TV watchers and cinema attenders than any previous generation and often vocal defenders! As a godly and great evangelist like Whitefield and the prince of preachers Spurgeon had so much to say against the theatre in their own days it is strange that so few have any warning in our own evil days where silence is golden for fear of criticism-is there now a spiritual climate change and for the worst? What a need there is for a God sent revival if only we could see our greatest need.
A big NO! Good stuff! The kind of preaching that isn't heard much anymore but needs to be. I'd add #9 to the list: Every dollar you give the film industry is a vote to keep producing more ungodly filth. The film industry knows wholesome movies sell more tickets than bad ones, but they still produce only a few wholesome films and use the profits to subsidize filth. So even buying tickets to wholesome movies (if there are any anymore) is voting for the bad ones.
Blessed mesage! Biblical lesson about saving faith. The thing that most touched my heart was the affirmation that, after 1 million years in heaven, we will be so perfectly righteous as now are, because we are clothed with the righteousness of Christ. Blessed salvation of God!
A message well sent Rev. Murray. Would that Gordon Brown could "hear" the truth thus preached, we might look to a better future. But even now he proves his anti-Christ standing. Rom 13 - If God establishes authority above us then the current government and sword, is a punishment upon the British people. The true witness is repudiated in favour of abomination and a church that would sanctify sin. The evil seed of Liberalism from the modern church, is cross bred with society at large. Scripture authority has been robbed from this nation and this grieves the Spirit. Those who can see observe that God has rescinded His good authority from all our institutions. Rev. Murray if it was only worth it, I would implore you to send a trancript of your sermon to 10 Downing Street. But they are blind who will not see. Thankyou dear brother, keep up the ministry. God be with you.
One of the best sermons on sermonaudio There are a few truly great sermons on sermonaudio, and this one is highly recommended. Taking as his text the often misused and misinterpreted Isa 53:5, Pastor Murray explains what Christ has done for us. This text is often misused by Pentecostal and Word of Faith, so if you have that background, I encourage you to listen to this sermon and learn the truth. What "healing" has been purchased for us on the cross? This sermon tells the Biblical truth about the healing and what it means, and it's more wonderful than any Word of Faith preacher on television could ever imagine! This is the true gospel straight from the Bible.
Not shallow Parts 2 and 3 seem to be flip-flopped where 3 is the earlier message and 2 is the later one from that day, if you want to listen to them in order. In one of these, Dr. Cairns talks about the shallowness of the preaching now. Before I discovered the true preaching of the Reformation I felt the same way, trying to get spritual nourishment from twinkies - I knew the Bible I was reading had so much more in it than any of the preaching I could find, but it was very hard to find any Biblical preaching anywhere. These messages are recorded through God's grace to let Christians hear what preaching ought to be like. And, I encourage people who aren't Christians and don't like the Christian faith to listen to a series like this one because you've probably never heard any true Biblical Christianity before.
A monument to the gospel This is an historic event, having a preacher like Dr. Cairns come to an area of the world where the gospel is still strong. The messages in this conference are a monument to the gospel of Christ in the 21st century, and its continued power to save. Christians should be encouraged by these powerful messages, which give in-depth teaching on what may be the most important verse in the Bible. This is the sort of solid teaching that's hard to find anymore. If you are not a Christian, this conference is a wonderful opportunity for you to explore the true gospel message which is so rarely heard anymore, and learn of the sovereign God who has the power to save.
How can we believe? God's promise and oath! A powerful sermon about God's promise and oath - sworn by Himself, because there was no one greater. This should be an encouragement to Christians - and hope for those who are not!
A serious message This is a serious message that everyone who is not saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus needs to listen to. And it's also comforting to Christians to learn that there is forgiveness available even in the face of the worst sins. No sin is too great to be forgiven.
Great Sermon! Yet again, I have encouragement in the Word through this minister - this time to not give up wrestling with God! I will continue to wait upon the Lord, and whilst I wait, I will search my heart. It is good to be reminded that the immediate answer to our prayer does not come just because we had the Lord's swift attention in the past. I hope and pray others who have found their hands hanging limp, may be encouraged also, to know that God will answer prayers if we would but continue to seek Him and not give up. May the Lord bless you minister.
