Listen and think! Along with the many many comments made about this superb message, here is another point. What is acting? It is a person pretending to be someone he is not. Saying lines that are not the truth. Movies and television are entirely based on fiction and lies. The people who do it the best are given awards and lots of money. This distracts the mind from eternity and what matters. Think about it.
Great Sermon! This was a sobering sermon on the text, Arise and Eat'. Thank you, minister.
Thank you Stornoway FCC for having this sermon uploaded. Sometimes the sermons do not appear afterward on facebook which is a pity.
Great analysis Movies themselves certainly are not wrong, but Hollywood is something that has no business in our home. Even most "Christian" movies are pure garbage. See the Passion of Christ. Not saying Christian movies cannot exist but they are to build up and not (merely) entertain. TO "entertain" (unterhalten) means "to hold down" (unten halten).
Wonderful, Helpful Sermon! This message was greatly blessed of God to my soul, especially the encouragement to confess Christ openly even when my evidences don't match those of others who have a more mature, exercised faith. Every day I need to be reminded that salvation is all of grace, from first to last. It is in coming to Christ as sinners that we receive the grace we need for a godly life. How foolish to compare ourselves with others rather than looking to Christ alone for all that God requires!
Great reminder. Yes, power and efficacy are not foubd in the wisdom of man, but in the power of the Holy Spirit applying God's Word. Good reminder of that!
Great Sermon! There is much wisdom and godly counsel here for Christians of all backgrounds and traditions, presented in a humble and gracious way. We dare not treat even good and cherished traditions as equal to God's Word or as essential to salvation. It's very evident that Rev. Macdonald is seeking the honor and glory of Christ before all else, and speaking with love and tenderness for His flock.
Great Sermon! Paul is not against James and James is not against Paul. Faith of old testament saints, Hebrews 11 all died before Christ manifest his coming in his humility, and lived the perfect substitute life and manifest the only good work that James is talking about.Faith until Christ came was dead. They died in faith. Then when Christ finished his works they raised and lived Amen
Clear wonderful sermon! Thank you so much for this clear teaching on justification and faith. Unless there is a marked change in our lives as Christians, how can we be truly saved? It is true that we do not repent once, but continue to repent of our daily sins whilst also bearing fruit that is a testament to our salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, being enabled by the Holy Spirit to do so.
Balm for the Soul This was a sermon that came just at the right time for me and provided great comfort. Though a long way off Pastor James’ gentle expository sermons are a must listen for me every week now. You can find sermons from him every week on the Free Church Comtining Harris website. He has also written two very conforting daily devotionals for people with depression.
