Intro: Jesus has come into the Temple, cleaned house, established His residence, & begun teaching and preaching. This provokes the bitter hatred & jealousy of Israel's wicked religious leaders (chief priests, scribes, and elders) so that they hatch a plot to sabotage Christ and deceive the people to retain power.
Need: These power struggles and dynamics are always at play in the Church today, whether we like it or not, and even among those whom we have learned from and trust. Let us handle these battles like Christ.
Theme: Dealing with Dishonest and Disobedient Religious Rulers Jesus's Way:
1. Don't play by their dishonest rules and questions. 2. Do expose their hypocrisy guised under godly piety, cloaking their violent hate. 3. Don't be surprised when the dishonest hate you more when you expose them.
