Theme: Jesus offers peace with God, but for those who do not receive Him, there are consequences. In vv. 41-42, Jesus weeps over the people's rejection. He saw the city full of people who were in great need of reconciliation with God but who would not believe in Him. They were only concerned with their desire for earthly peace. In application, we need to make sure we have peace with God. In vv. 43-44, Jesus affirms the consequences to come. God is indeed sovereign, but people are indeed responsible. We need to make sure that we don't waste our opportunities to know Christ. In conclusion, do we see people as God sees them, as people with eternal souls? Do we care for those who are lost without Christ? Do we personally have peace with God? Let us live with our focus on eternity.
