The present aspect of our salvation involves our being sanctified, or being set apart from sin to God. During this time there is an anticipation of the future aspect of glorification.
This present dimension of being sanctified includes times of trouble, difficulties, problems and trials. The physical afflictions believers experience are no different than those faced by unbelievers. Living obedient and God-pleasing lives does not keep troubles from coming. What is different is how believers regard suffering and how suffering is handled. For the believer the trials and troubles are a part of God's plan for each individual life and the purposes may or may not be fully understandable. What is known is that the sufferings are only for the present time and there will be glory in the future. An eternal glory far beyond comparison to any present suffering being endured. This is the believer's hope for the future.
Even creation longingly anticipates the revealing of believers as the children of God and the lifting of the curse of sin. Then it will finally be that Christ's kingdom is established on the earth with all creation and all creatures being as God intended.
