A Christian does not live in the flesh. A Christian can do sinful things but they cannot live there. A Christian lives in the realm of the Spirit of God. All responsibility to the flesh has ended because believers live in this new realm.
Believers live by the power of the Spirit and will carry out their responsibility to not do the things the flesh wants to do in service to sin. The unbeliever, without the Spirit, has no power to do anything but serve sin.
Living in service to sin is to travel the broad road. On the broad road the flesh is dominated and controlled by sin leading to eternal death and hell. The narrow road is the way of righteousness dominated by the Spirit leading to eternal life with God.
On the narrow road the believer's responsibility is to live a holy life by means of the power the Spirit provides. The responsibility when carried out in faithfulness will result in a life of increasing obedience and conformity to Christ's character.
