Many seek to come to Canada to immigrate as citizens because of the many great benefits Canadian citizens can have. But it is also important to remember that there are duties as well. The benefits are given so that citizens can carry out their duties. In Philippians 1:27-30, Paul charges Christians to carry out their duty as citizens of heaven. "Let your conduct" in v.27 comes from the Greek word politeuesthe, which literally means "be citizens" or "discharge your duties as citizens." As we read and learn from Paul, our goal as citizens of heaven is to claim the benefits we have in Christ so that we are strengthened and equipped to carry out our duty.
