Nowadays, people think they have the authority over life and death. The world thinks they may choose whether to live or to die, and even when to die. But the truth is, people do not cherish either living or dying. The world is in a crisis of true delight and true hope, resulting in a crisis of motivation to live. Life seems pointless; the suicide rate increases. However, people choose death not because they delight in it, but because they can't stand living. Death is seen as an escape from life, but neither death nor life is their first choice. Neither death nor life is delightful. They fear life, they fear death. They just choose to not think about it and numb their conscience with empty/earthly pleasures. Those who are in Christ, however, have Christ as their delight, both in life and in death. Today, we will see and learn that. Because Christ is our delight, both in life and in death, we now choose to die to live. We choose to die to our old selves,so that we may live to Christ. |
