There is all the difference in the world between knowing God and knowing about God. When John the Baptist found himself standing before a delegation sent by the religious authorities he answers them almost nothing. God and his faithful servants have no time or regard for those who want to use religion as a means of gain, influence or control. In this passage we see a pattern follows by God and his servants. Truth and revelation are not given to those who do not honestly seek God and do not have the heart of God. We are always to be ready to give an answer to those who genuinely want to know the hope that is in us but we have no answer for those who want to use godliness as a form of gain.
