We must never forget that no matter how we say it our message is 'Christ and him crucified'. All Biblical theology is contained in that phrase. Jesus Christ was not just a lamb but he was The Lamb. In Revelation he is referred to as 'The Lamb' more times as he is referred to as Jesus, Jesus Christ or Christ. If I counted right is referred to as 'The Lamb' 24 times as opposed to 18 as Jesus or Christ. The bottom line is if you remove the substitutionary blood sacrifice from Jesus you no longer have the Christ of the Bible. He came to fulfill everything that was simplified in all of the sacrifices that took place from Abraham to his day. This is why there is no more sacrifice for sin. When he died on the cross he made full and complete atonement. This is the message that the church has been given to take the world and we dare not dilute it or mark it down to make it more acceptable.
