A biblical understanding of the gifts being given by the Holy Spirit today, to the members of each local church, is critical if we are to know how the church is to function today. A misunderstanding confuses and distorts the Word of God and its meaning, what is demonically influenced activity is regarded as divine, and maligns the ministry the Church is to have. It becomes a critical issue to recognize there is no new revelation being given by God today. Consequently those gifts that involved the communication and recording of new revelation from God are no longer being given by the Spirit today.
The bible identifies many gifts being given by the Spirit today including the gifts of teaching, helps (administration/oversight) and evangelism. How these are to be identified, developed, and put to use in the church, are issues considered in this study.
