Last Sunday I began to introduce this Parable to you and we saw that the Certain Rich Man represents our Great Triune God. He would have each of us to be faithful with all that He has entrusted to us in this life. This life is a stewardship for all men, not just for believers in Christ. Each person has been entrusted with a stewardship. Not every person has been entrusted with the same amount of time, or talents, money, or possessions in this life. But each person is expected by God to be a wise manager of what they have been given. In this session I want to begin our time by showing you that our Lord Jesus Christ in the more particular way that this Parable is worded, is the Certain Rich Man.
The sons of this world represent people who do not know the Lord. The sons of light represent people who do know the Lord. The sons of this world live their lives in a selfishly sinful way. But sometimes they, just like the unjust steward, are more shrewd than those who are Christians in that they will really think about what they can do to make for themselves a more comfortable and secure existence here upon the earth. But the Christian who should be thinking of his present time upon the earth and his future account that he must give to his Master, our Lord Jesus Christ, sometimes doesn't use his time and talents, his gifts and abilities so as to receive a commendation from the Lord. But we should learn to do so.
