The apostle Paul is intent on keeping his focus and maintaining a single focus without distractions, clutter, or becoming self-absorbed with his circumstances. He continued to share the Gospel and teach the Word for the spiritual growth and maturity of those the Lord had brought under his care. There was disappointment for what had gone on among the church at Corinth and how individuals were living but he was not ready or willing to give up as he wrote to them. His love for them was as a shepherd and unconditional being of the essence of the love he had received from Christ. His love for them and his desire to be pleasing to God with responsibilities he had been given motivated his rebukes and corrections called for. The response to rebuke and correction then directly impacts the spiritual welfare of those original readers and the readers of God's word today as it is taken to heart.
