When our focus is on God as He truly is, it puts everything in perspective. God will not give or share His glory with anyone or anything, ever. The glimpse we are given of God on His throne in heaven - where He is the center of attention – sharpens our focus.
He sits enthroned as the sovereign over everyone, and everything that goes on, on the earth and in heaven. Every event that takes place is under His control down to the smallest detail.
This revelation was given to the apostle John when he was “spiritually” transported to heaven after he received the revelation concerning the seven churches. He saw and heard from God the Father sitting on His throne. God the Son and God the Spirit were also present as they too were visibly manifested to John.
God the Father was seen in His holiness, justice and mercy. Sights and sounds around His throne portray His power and separateness from His creation. [Exodus 19:16-25; Isaiah 6:1-7; Ezekiel 1:4, 22, 26-28; Daniel 7:9-10]
It becomes obvious that God must be worshipped with reverence and awe – even by those He has brought into a personal, family relationship with Himself. Day in and day out as we are living out that relationship with Him, we must never forget that He is God and we are not.
