The Scriptures foretell of a kingdom Jesus Christ will establish on the earth and will reign as King forever. As its king, Christ as a physical descendent from the line of David, will fulfill the promise God made to David (2 Samuel 7:11-13, 16) that his throne would be established forever, on the earth, in Jerusalem.
Christ's human qualifications to be the promised Messiah are verified in the recorded geneologies of both His father Joseph and His mother Mary.
The prophet Micah foretold of the Messiah's birth to be in Bethlehem. Jesus Christ was born in the only place the qualified King of the Jews could be born, Bethlehem.
John the Baptist, prepared the way for the King's arrival by announcing to the nation of Israel the message of their need for personal repentance for their sin, to be a part of the King's kingdom. As Jesus began His public ministry, He proclaimed the same message.
The miracles Christ did served to demonstrate and authenticate His claim to be the Messiah. The Old Testament prophets had foretold what the Messiah would do and that acceptance of the Messiah was necessary for the kingdom to be established.
The Old Testament prophets also foretold what would characterize this earthly kingdom once established by the Messiah such as no more tears, dying, disease and sickness for which relief has yet to come.
Christ teaching of the parables (Matthew 13) revealed another detail of this kingdom. There would be a time gap that would occur between His first coming to suffer & die, and His second coming to rule & reign.
Christ is coming again and when He does, then the kingdom will be established on the earth, in Jerusalem, forever!
