We need to ask ourselves at times how blessed we really feel we are. Christians can feel unjustly at times that they are hard done by. The Lord Jesus tells His disciples that they are blessed to see and hear the things they do. Many of the godly men of the Old Testament longed to see the things they saw. They knew of the coming of the Messiah as was true for Abraham and David. But while they saw it afar off and rejoiced, they did not actually see it happen. The disciples were therefore privileged to see the King and the works of the kingdom. They could see the blessed results of His works in the lives of people who were changed.
Our eyes are also blessed even though we have not personally witnessed the events. But Scripture assures us that there is a blessing for those who have not seen yet who still believe. We were blessed when we were given sight of Christ and by the Spirit's help heard His call to trust and follow Him. We need to ensure that we see Him still by not looking elsewhere rather than to Him, by keeping up a regular life of prayer and Bible reading.
