Learning valuable lessons from Job's example of perseverance, faith and trust in our loving, wise and Holy God.
Job many times expresses his sadness and incomprehension at what has happened to him. But throughout his speeches there are wonderful affirmations of faith. The remark ‘Though He slay me…’ might lead us to suppose that the person he was speaking about was dangerous and untrustworthy. But he is speaking about the covenant-keeping God of glory. God always works according to His own plan which may mystify us at times. There are things He does which may baffle us and bruise us. But Job is aware of many other dealings of God with his soul and many blessings which He has brought.
Though Job concedes God may yet put an end to his life, he affirms that he will trust in Him. He knows that God is trustworthy. Because God is wise, holy, loving and unchanging, Job is able to put all his trust in Him. Finally, he also knows that even if he is to die, God will raise him up again.
