Satan's future worship leader, the false prophet, will direct the worship of the world to the second beast, the anti-Christ who is usurping the position of Jesus Christ. The false prophet will be Satan's counterfeit appointee to usurp the position of the Holy Spirit completing his satanic trinity. Prophesied as coming “out of the earth” seems to indicate his human origin. Coming on like a “lamb”, he will play the part of a spiritual leader as he speaks and acts on behalf of the devil, hence lying and deceiving.
Miracles will not be a conclusive test for determining he is a false prophet since he will be demonically empowered to do sign miracles. While the unbelieving world will not believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, they will be eager to believe in the resurrection of the beast climaxing man's rejection of God.
By his lies and deceitful scheming, the false prophet will be convincing in directing the worship of unbelievers to the anti-Christ in what will become world-wide worship.
The “image of the beast” which is the abomination of desolation warned about through Daniel the prophet and Jesus Himself will stand in the middle of the rebuilt temple that will be in operation during the seven year tribulation. The “normal operation” will come to a screeching halt when the temple is defiled buy the setting up of the image in the holy place.
