My reformed brothers please do not take my words as to be too harsh because I say them with much concern and I believe with much truth. The first thing I want to clarify is that when I use the term reformed easy-believism I am in no way accusing the reformers of teaching easy- believism, but I am using the term in reference to the modern day reformed church and not the liberal churches but those who are supposed to be more fundamental. I grew up in easy-believism and The Lord delivered me from it about 10 yrs. ago and I think that May give me some advantage in identifying it. I am amazed how many people that I talk to who are in good reformed churches who seem to fall into the same trap as the Arminians. Please forgive me if I am being overly critical, but I think that someone has to talk about it. I sense that we have taken our intellectualism and have used it as others have used their experience. In other words: on one side you have people who say that I know that I am saved because I had the experience whatever that experience may be, whether it is praying to receive Jesus or singing some emotional song or whatever it is, but then on the other side we say that we know that we are saved because we have the right theology. We must realize that both are wrong because both are missing regeneration. Now don't get me wrong I think we should all have good theology and we ought to be striving to understand scripture more and more but we are not saved through knowledge even know the right knowledge is necessary for salvation. We are saved through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. I think we have taken over for God when we declare someone as saved who is seeking salvation. Just because someone is concerned about their sin and understands the gospel to some degree does not mean they are saved. We are so quick to comfort people and I believe that comes from our American culture. My brothers it is good for an unconverted man to feel the weight of his sin and to sense the wrath of God bearing down on him. Yes I do believe we are to preach Christ when a man is humbled by the law, but we are not to tell them they are saved. I say this in brokenness. We cannot continue on as if everything is okay because we have good theology when it is not being practiced. To be saved is not to only know good theology but to live it because we love The Lord Jesus Christ and are empowered by the Holy Spirit. I say this because I think it is easy for us to fall into the same things we preach against when we think we cannot because we say "that's not what I believe." The question is not do you say you don't believe in easy-believism but the question is what do you practice? The question is: how do you view salvation? Do you still view it as something that man can do or do you view it as a supernatural work of God that changes every part of the man?
