THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL FLOURISH

The Word of God promises that the righteous shall flourish (Ps. 92:12-13). The righteous shall not flourish as the flesh flourishes. The flesh only flourishes for a day. It grows and blossoms in the morning and is cut down in the evening (Ps. 90:6). The righteous shall flourish eternally. The psalmist said “They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing” (Ps 92:14). The righteous shall not flourish outwardly. The righteous shall flourish inwardly since “the inward man is renewed day by day” (II Cor. 4:16). The righteous flourish when Christ comes to them in power (Ps. 72:7). The righteous shall flourish as they grow in grace. The righteous flourishes over the long haul by holding his way (Job 17:9) and remaining in the presence of Christ our Savior.

If Christ is all (and He is), then my greatest desire and prayer for you is to know Christ. Since Christ is all, and my greatest desire and prayer is for you to know Christ, then my message will always be Christ – all Christ, all the time.

WHAT DOES GOD REQUIRE?

If a person has concern and doubts about his hope of grace and eternal glory, he might consider the following questions.

  1. God requires perfection. Am I perfect? No! Then do I have ONE who is perfect to stand for me and I in Him?
  2. Do I have a righteousness that can stand the test of God's holy law and presence? No! Then is there ONE who will give to me such a holiness?
  3. Will God hear my weak and sinful voice before His throne? No! Then is there ONE? He will hear who shall be my advocate and intercessor?
  4. Do I have an acceptable blood atonement and can I act as a suitable high priest before His presence? No! Then do I have ONE who is a great High Priest in the heavens with one sacrifice for sins forever?
  5. The scriptures declare, "He that hath clean hands, a pure heart, who hath not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully" shall stand in His holy place. Can this be said of me? No! Then do I have ONE in whom all the fullness of holiness, power, and truth dwells who will love me, take my case as His, and bring me to God?

"Yes, there's ONE, only ONE, The blessed, blessed Jesus, He's the ONE: When afflictions press the soul, And waves of trouble roll, And you need a friend to help you, HE'S THE ONE!"

Pastor Henry Mahan

God does not need you but you sure need him. But he will not have part of you and the devil have the rest. Go therefore and surrender yourself up to him and, it is then and there that He is apt to reveal to you His salvation.

Pastor Bruce Crabtree

A friend is one to whom you never need to explain yourself, one who always puts the best construction possible upon your actions and words, one who is always ready to help. A friend is someone who steps in when everyone else walks out. I pray for grace to be such a friend.

Pastor Don Fortner
